I’m so so pumped to be teaching this class, online via @poetshouse.bsky.social, a syllabus of poets fundamental not just to my poetics but my personhood. Come read with me! poetshouse.org/event/semina...

The cover for Young Justice 27

The cover for Young Justice 27

Among a certain sect of DC fans – often female, queer, and active on online fandoms from Tumblr and the like – Young Justice is basically the DC ur-text. I say that with such authority because it was my own experience, and Young Justice was one of the first DC series I read in full as a sixteen-year-old in 2011, nearly ten years after the series ended. I discovered comics for the first time with the help of Tumblr masterposts and Wikipedia deep dives, and fell into a deep, abiding obsession with DC in particular. Despite that obsession, it was not easy learning how to “read” DC history. It was not natural, and the knowledge was not ingrained, other than perhaps the basic secret identities and Justice League characters. To the me of 2011, Doiby Dickles existed, contextless, in the vacuum of YJ. How would I know otherwise?

The Things I Thought and Did Not Say While Writing For a Content-Mill In 1996, Jerry Maguire was laughed out of his office for publishing a company-wide memo encouraging his industry to take a more human approach.

Oh, a new Valnet sucks article. Don't tease me with a good time (the article is worth reading)

A Professor Was Fired for Her Politics. Is That the Future of Academia?

1/ Sharing my story with the NYTimes was not an easy decision. My north star goal is always liberation and a free Palestine. That led me to decide to participate in this article despite my concerns.

What the Mariners’ Pride Video Gets Right

This week, the Seattle Mariners released a video for Pride. I was expecting cheesy corporate blandness. Instead, the video was thoughtful and well considered. Here's what the ‪@mariners.com‬ got right with their celebration of Pride.

the “scroll INTO the past” is very dangerous for me, timewise, because I hit no limits. I need to hit that hard limit of “YOU ARE UP TO DATE AND HAVE NOWHERE ELSE TO SCROLL” 😭😭😭

hi bsky. I think I would be more likely to use this app if the main feed “remembered my place” and I could scroll up to read new posts since I last opened the app. (yes, like twitter, sue me.) is there some setting I can make work for me?

Another wonderful piece from Shelfdust's series of monthly essays looking at the Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen mini series one issue at a time.

This month, @kateodo.bsky.social writes about issue 4, in which Lois Lane goes to Gotham to rescue Jimmy, who is turning into a prize asshole.
