You've missed the other element, where he says that each university should focus on a few very specialised areas. So there goes the concept of research-informed teaching . . . and, indeed, of universities as places where disciplines meet and combine

A case study in how to ruin a university.
Admirations for all my fellow-academics who had the balls to reject this b*ll*cks and walked; and commiserations to those whose finances or family commitments mean they have to stay and suck it up.
A dictatorial Executive employing discredited managerial techniques to bully a demoralized workforce. Proleterianised academics having to massage grades to fulfil pointless KPIs that will produce a generation of students with discredited degrees.

I feel for my American brethren, and am also so, so grateful to live in a country where (please God!) this litany is not needed.
The shooting at a Catholic School in Minnesota yesterday was horrendous. But it says something about the USA that the Catholic Bishops have found it necessary to create and publish a specific litany to be prayed after a school shooting www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/266199/...
You may have seen an article in the Church Times recently - 'Bring theology back to the parishes' - The Reverend Canon Jarel Robinson-Brown writes a response on our blog:

Could we campaign for the Land Rover Defender to be renamed the Land Rover Child Killer?
Thank you!

A bit of a niche subject I guess, but people have been very kind about it.
Weird fact. This was released 4 months before the last person to be executed by guillotine in France
Epic dodgy shenanigans at Bolton Uni - sorry, the University of Greater Manchester. Otherwise known as what happens when universities are in the hands of corporate scum out for nothing but a fast buck:
Just written this to the diocese where she is employed: HR@rcaos.org.uk; safeguardingadmin@rcdow.org.uk
Katherine Bennett is an RE teacher and Evangelisation Mentor in the Diocese of Southwark. I have just emailed them this at HR@rcaos.org.uk; safeguardingadmin@rcdow.org.uk. Maybe others could do the same?
Grand Rapids? The idiot is an Independent Catholic in a sect nobody has heard of, having trained in and been rejected for ordination by the Church of England. The main point is he's not recognised by any ecclesial authority apart from himself and about 5 swivel-eyed lunatics
I also have an ethical issue with the dependence on a process of revenue extraction from less-wealthy countries. A more defensible stance would be one in which we lend academics to those countries to help to develop their domestic sector
Definitely with you on the student number caps. I think the international student market is shrinking anyway as both China and India sort their domestic arrangements - and competition from the likes of Australia is fierce.
Thank you!
Who is he?
This is why the USA needs to take back control over the Panama Canal. So that POTUS can build a great big beautiful wall across it to keep out all those Illegals and Make The Pacific Great Again
Has to be Symeon the Holy Fool for me. I've lost count of the number of times I, too, wished to climb into the pulpit during the liturgy to throw nuts at the pious worshippers in the front rows (but in my case, for less holy reasons).
Yup. Me too
Sorry - *ennobled*, not enrolled
Citationscwill tell us a bit about why Owen was enrolled, but I reckon a DNA test would tell us considerably more . . .
Apologies if this sounds glib, but intuitively I find I believe that a broken Catholic is the only sort to be.
