Mighty deeds. Great idea, rarely seen it work well in practise. Particularly difficult at con tables where players look at me blankly. Maybe I'm a shit Judge though ha ha

Spell duels. Studiously avoid them because it's just not worth the remaining brain cells I have left to try and understand them.

The main thing though is that I've struggled to make it work as a campaign system which has kind of put off my players. There needs to be a little more to appeal to modern players than just increasing bonuses per level. I also know that's controversial because it moves it into less OSR territory.

Some of these could be resolved with restructured 1e. This will be the first convention season that I've not run DCC at any conventions (all Dragonbane this year) and part of that reason is that it's a challenge at times to explain to newbies and there's a lot of table lookups that eat up con time.

I wouldn't disagree. There are a lot of inconsistencies (add luck mod to some things, subtract it from others). Also, as amazing as the books are, they can be difficult to use in terms of structure, layout, readability. Finding spells particularly hard. Of course, not all of these things need a 2e.
