This is terribly sad news. Hampshire is very a special place and this is a real loss for US academia overall in addition to a loss for the students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community of Hampshire College.

The SAVE America Act looks set to die in Congress, but 23 mostly Republican-led U.S. states have recently changed their voting procedures to mirror key aspects of Pres. Donald Trump’s sweeping package of voting restrictions in time for November’s midterm elections

Are we tired of winning yet?

I appreciate rabbit/bunny themed content on Easter. Good times. 🐣 But I sincerely hate Updike’s Rabbit Run. Hard pass. As Auntie Mame would say, “How vivid.” 🤢
I have called out decades of grad students for this basic error (place of work/place of residence). Drives me bonkers. 🤯

In a recent @theatlantic.com article on the SAVE Act, LWV CEO Celina noted that the bill would disproportionately affect the approximately 8 in 10 married women who change their names. Full article: www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

Every single serious person involved in economic development understands US colleges and universities to be the cornerstone of the national (& regional) innovation system. We built the system over a century to provide opportunity and access to rural communities and big cities. And the system works.
US Colleges & Universities are engines of regional economic development. They educate the new workforce, partner w/ industry to train incumbent workers & foster innovation and incubate new technologies. They employ thousands of people in cities and small towns. We need more investment not less.
Thank you to @acls1919.bsky.social @historians.org and @modernlanguage.bsky.social for leading this effort to restore the normal functioning/funding of the National Endowment for the Humanities. This is the advocacy we need from our learned societies and professional associations in these times.

☎️ Call your Senators! Tell them to Stop the SAVE Act. Requires a passport/birth certificate to register to vote. 14% of women keep their names when they marry ➡️ Their current names don’t match their birth certificates. 🙄 A passport costs $130+. This bill is🦇💩 insane. Voter suppression + poll tax.👎
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a PhD Student to join the Board of the Regional Studies Association.

The @lwvohio.bsky.social said the SAVE America Act could limit women, rural Ohioans, students, older Ohioans, Black Ohioans & those with disabilities from voting. These groups are less likely to have qualifying IDs, which can be expensive and time consuming to acquire.
