It's the Hopepunkers again. (Name still pending.)
Lahja's eyebrows are like a visible health bar.
Skedaddle actually does sound kinda fun as a name. You brought up gnomes, so I can imagine the name fitting someone less-serious joke character.
Yes no worries, I'm not going to make huge changes to the design just because it reminded four people of something else. I was just curious if it was that obvious of an unintentional connection.
Thanks for the explanation.
You're the third or fourth person to say that. Would changing the shape of the helmet make him look less like Lord Hater or does it go deeper than that?
I kinda like it when villains lose their temper and turn more serious, it could work.
Yes, exactly. I wanted to show with the last illustration that he isn't feared by all, but is sometimes given gifts if he has done a good deed in their eyes.
Some illustrations of the antagonist of "Exit the Dragon", General Departure.
It's still undecided whenever he'd be a fun kind of a villain or a serious one where humor just disappears whenever he appears.
The dragon folk in this setting can live up to 300 years max so they age a bit differently.
Despite that Exit still looks a bit young to be in her twenties, but that's because of my usual, tiny character proportions.
Since "Exit the Dragon" illustrations and comics are scattered timeline-wise, here's a quick graph to keep track how the main duo looks at different stages of life.
And if they make through the story alive...
Okay then, I trust you.
I'm starting to get more comfortable drawing the lottas digitally with the "rough" paper-like look.
I think this is what the characters looked like. It's been a while.
Older art from last year, I didn't feel like uploading it publicly since this is the heartwarming reunion after Exodus has passed away.
I would've wanted to draw illustrations of that dramatic scene before skipping ahead, but timeline of Exit illustrations isn't consistent anyway. But it will happen
Big (?) Exodus for those who have been curious to see such a thing.
Amazing, it just melted right there.
After what I've seen I can believe that. Funny little furry noodles.
That's right, it was a ferret (alive)
That's what happens when you work at a desk job customer service. All kinds of people approach you.
Museum Encounter.
Matias Torres in Carrier Wing Ypsilon-style for fun. #AceCombat
That makes me happy to hear, since I also like those games and their aesthetics you've mentioned (even if I lack the tactical thinking of being good at AW-games)
And variety is what I want to draw, this project has been a perfect chance to test my skills.
I can see that now that you mention it. Advance Wars character portraits were a pretty good inspiration for the fictional militaristic style. These kinda mix the lighter tone with the designs, but the colors are more Days of Ruin-styled.
Fantastic to hear, thanks. And yes, the game is heavily inspired by Ace Combat-series. It has been an honor to work in such a project.
I read player feedback on Carrier Wing Ypsilon, and people were saying that the character art didn't suit the game's look, which was a good point.
I did adjustments to the art so they fit the game's aesthetics slightly better. Next demo will have these updated portraits.
She was getting lonely, so I got to put her somewhere.
Capcom's recent Kunitu-Gami: Path of the Goddess comes to mind. The main character is an active player, while the others are more stationary units.
I'd try to keep the scope small. Stages would be static where you defend several points from waves of enemies. Between waves you could set up traps and prepare for the next wave.
It is like you said that it would be a challenge to make it fun.
