honestly, i think the difference is that bsky has blasted through so much public good will so quickly that the average user is predisposed to hating the team. i've seen a number of posts where the common thought is "keep posting to waste resources"
I wrote about the rise of these bot accounts and how unsettling it was back in February. Honestly bsky introducing a bot label but absolutely no moderation enforcement around it makes it less than useless to me and makes me see these bots as being approved by the team despite the harm they can bring

i had a conversation with my manager recently where she said it's not fair to compare code to art but honestly I don't see how. if you break it down, it's a lot of designing, iterating, experimenting to see what works and what doesn't, etc. the process is way more similar than you would think.

We've hit 120+ LLM accounts blocked on the LLM blocklist, mostly due to a hostile server that exists purely to host LLM spam. This shit is genuinely terrible, bsky needs to be more proactive about this before this turns into the "AI chatbot harassment site", like twitter.

I think when someone creates a PDS with premium features, you'll see people more happily offering money to join that PDS.

You need a gmail account to access Google services. You can't use Youtube, Drive, Sheets, Play Store, any number of google services, that have come out for free that most people use without creating a Gmail account. Unless a competing PDS operator does something similar, theres no reason to swap off
Not wrong about bsky owning most of the infrastructure currently. It's funny though, because you just mention "the Gmail problem" without actually touching why people flock around Gmail, despite there being tons of email services (yahoo, proton, zoho, etc).

Just a little weird that we can't get that basic feature that every other social-app implemented easily, but we do get a half-baked Live border and buttons that redirect you to an app for DMs. I don't know anyone who uses these DM apps, but literally everyone uses pronouns.
Bluesky sure does do a lot of work on the profile page while also saying that it can't add pronouns because they want to rework the profile page.
