What stood out at our 2025 NextGen bootcamp: energy + climate solutions require collaboration. Working together, the growing OpenMinds NextGen community is prepared to lead Dual Challenge progress into the future.
The 2025 OpenMinds NextGen Leaders completed their bootcamp last weekend. From touring the Newtown Creek Renewable Energy Project to engaging with a broad range of OpenMinds experts, the class left inspired to tackle the Dual Challenge—together.
This week, at Cape Station, we saw the world’s largest enhanced geothermal energy project.
Congrats to Fervo Energy for producing flexible, firm, carbon-free energy. Each step is going deeper (15,000 ft!) and driving greater efficiency, affordability, and abundance.
Steve Ballmer breaks down the facts about US energy use, production, and environmental impact.
Geothermal energy is a promising resource for reliable and affordable energy. Congrats to Fervo and @timlatimer.bsky.social on their progress at Utah’s Cape Station.
A recent study finds long-duration energy storage is essential to getting more clean electricity on the grid, and could dramatically cut power prices during times of peak demand. 🔌💡

Congrats to energyRe and Google; collaborations like this are essential to solving the Dual Challenge of more energy, less emissions – fast.
As energy demand grows, upgrading our transmission networks is essential. That’s why energyRe is modernizing the U.S. electric grid to bring reliable, clean power where it’s needed most.

Digital illustration of the life-cycle of oil and gas drilling and production. Methane detection and transparency are essential to stop this super-pollutant We explored the technologies needed to get a complete picture of methane emissions.
On the ground: Sensors are used to find small, steady leaks. These readings typically belong to companies conducting or paying for detection surveys and are not publicly available.
From the air: Aircraft equipped with camera and sensors can help detect emissions over larger areas, but they can't fly over every source.
From space: Satellites are able to see methane in multiple ways and across all geographies. Public satellite data is putting pressure on emitters to fix their leaks.
RMI’s newest macrograph shows exactly what technologies are being deployed to address methane waste and takes a look at how each technology can help measure and continually improve methane detection around the globe. bit.ly/42ZueKe
