The thing about all these pieces complaining about Marine Le Pen's conviction is that not a single one of them bothers to explain why someone found guilty of embezzling millions of Euros from public funds should be allowed to get away with it

The people have lost faith in politics.
Politicians seem above the law. They are corrupt. They use public money for their own benefit. They lie to the public about who funds them.
That is why we must allow the convicted criminal who embezzled from the public purse to run.
- Me, for the Spectator.
there's apparently now a view in every right-leaning British publication that nothing ought to be done about the far right, ever - they should be able to say whatever they want and do whatever they want, yet remain untouchable, and it's becoming increasingly hard not to parse it as outright support
Couldn’t agree more with what Ian has so skilfully articulated here
Putin comes against Le Pen ruling. Authoritarians hates any possibility of legal restraint on their leadership. Trump will doubtless do the same. Journalists do not have to follow this framing. There is zero reason for them to start a report by questioning whether the ruling is democratic.
Barring Marine Le Pen from the presidential election will inflame tensions
very funny April Fools' Day joke in The Times about not prosecuting far-right politicians guilty of fraud
Well... There's always a quote..
VIDEO. When Marine Le Pen called for "lifelong ineligibility" for elected officials convicted of "misappropriation of public funds"

In case you missed this: the discussion around delivery rider behaviour/illegal ebike use too often ignores wider economic pressures, including from the app-based delivery model. We discuss that, plus how the tech has morphed to be even worse for riders, with a fascinating guest
Totally agree that the MAGA thing is creepy, to say the least. But I do think it does have a valid point. To build strong coalitions we need to reframe the problem and tailor our messaging to different audiences, who have different experiences and needs.
“Local stores next to the protected bike-lane have seen a 49% increase in sales, compared to an average of 3% for Manhattan as a whole.”
(Among MANY other public benefits.)

Definitely the most worrying (to say the least) part
interesting that he also slammed down electric cars at some point, to some extent. I wonder how, on balance, the two statements will reflect on tesla stocks
Gosh...
So you are sad human being then?
The same way as in any other setting with little space: you can give way, squeeze through, or move back to allow a wheelchair user to pass by. Anw, I hope you are either a bot or being paid by some obscure car lobby organisation for running such a troll account, and not just a sad human being
Loved the 3 wheels reference!!
And to state the obvious - every person on a bicycle means one less car on the road.
Motorists often complain that bike lanes are always empty, which is true but the reason for that is bicycles are a far more efficient way of moving people compared to cars. Data from London shows that segregated cycle lanes move five times more people per square metre.
