the first CEO to just be like "fuck the groupchat, we're going back to offering 2019 level of service" is going to see exponential brand growth for their org while their buddies open and close their mouths in outrage like hyperventilating goldfish

Completely agree, it’s inevitable. Humans will rise above the slop.
Thrilled to see ZED MOONSTEIN featured here with other middle school friendship books, all of which sound so good.
I'm sure I'm not listed, but even so, needed to send a 'get fucked' email
Infuriating. Thanks for sounding the alarms on this.
House Republicans have just introduced a bill that would result in a NATIONWIDE book ban. Oh, the bill is also specifically transphobic. Contact your House Rep and ask them to publicly oppose this legislation. A few more thoughts in the thread about this action. bookriot.com/hr7661-book-...
Georgia Fort's is chilling, and it's being overshadowed by the equally chilling arrest of Don Lemon.
A GoFundMe is being set up for Fort. In the meantime, you can support her work directly – without paying massive fundraising platform fees – through her website:

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

This is amazing, John! I love that story and the project you came up with, and I’m delighted that talking about Stand By Me brought all that back for you. Sending you all the good vibes for that project!
This was a delightful conversation with Jessikah!
Loved this conversation! Thanks again for having me!
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for sharing!
Check out 16 Forever. With a pared down prose and a driving narrative, this story is highly readable and accessible. Carter's challenges will both entertain and pull at your heart strings.

Sometimes all you can do is make the world 0.0000000000001% less awful by being a good person and it feels very meaningless but it’s also the only thing that really matters
Ha same
Hey! 16 Forever is out! It’s a romantic, funny, time-loopy story about Carter Cohen, who is stuck forever at age 16 as the world keeps aging around him. It’s about time, memory, change, and love, both romantic and familial. I’m very proud of it. www.harpercollins.com/products/16-...

This was a delightful conversation. E Train is so impressive.
I love this festival so much. Hooray for 2026!
Can’t wait!
The attack at a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney today was a vile act of antisemitic terror. I mourn those who were murdered and will be keeping their families, the Jewish community, and the Chabad movement in my prayers. May the memories of all those killed be a blessing. While we are still waiting for all the facts to emerge, what we already know is devastating. At least 11 dead, including Rabbi Eli Schlanger, who held deep ties to Crown Heights. At least 29 injured. Another Jewish community plunged into mourning and loss, a holiday of light so painfully reduced to a day of darkness. This attack is merely the latest, most horrifying iteration in a growing pattern of violence targeted at Jewish people across the world. Too many no longer feel safe to be themselves, to express their faith publicly, to worship in their synagogues without armed security stationed outside. What happened at Bondi is what many Jewish people fear will happen in their communities too. On Bondi Beach today, as men with long guns targeted innocents, another man ran towards the gunfire and disarmed a shooter. Tonight, as Jewish New Yorkers light menorahs and usher in a first night of Hanukkah clouded by grief, let us look to his example and confront hatred with the urgency and action it demands. When I am Mayor, I will work every day to keep Jewish New Yorkers safe—on our streets, our subways, at shul, in every moment of every day. Let this be a purpose shared by every New Yorker, and let us banish this horrific violence to the past.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
The cover of Zed Moonstein Makes a Friend by Lance Rubin. A kid is strapped to a giant computer face.
I just read Zed Moonstein Makes a Friend by @lancerubinparty.bsky.social because you know I have to read anything with robots and AIs in it. A kid uses an experimental app to generate an AI friend which goes badly wrong. It's unfortunately very timely! #kid #middlegrade
