Op de fiets is different from the one that Cyclesmith organizes. They're likely very similar in the type of riding though. We've participated in Op de fiets for a few years, it's fun, they run the races out of Shubie park. Very fun/chill and everyone gets candy in the end!
I think that's been there for months!
Sign at the Allen-Harvard diverter. It's a rainbow retro tv screen that says TEKNICUL DIFACULTYS.
#pylonwars update: teknicul difacultys. No Scritchy, presumably they will return once the teknicul difacultys are resolved.
We've had an induction range for about 10 years with a brief stint without one when we first moved to our current house. They're fast, no excess heat, the speed also makes them much more predictable. Always reminded of how good they are anytime we're at a cottage or somewhere without one.
I just got back from walking Morley, Scritchy was vandalized again. Pylons were all moved to the sides. It's sad that someone feels the need to tear down a cute little raccoon.
Thanks Laura, I really appreciate your perspective on this.
I have no doubt that a good portion of these high school students will understand the assignment.
He just got schooled on that. Why does he need to keep going with it? It's showing a real lack of character.
That's putting it gently.
I drove past the Windsor Quingate (Windgate?) MUP this morning. The wooden fencing had blown over into the path. Hopefully no one was hurt. Has anyone been through there today? It looked like the construction crew were addressing it. #BikeHfx
I moved one back to the middle after I passed you this morning crossing Quinpool. I wasn't sure if you recognized me without a bike haha.
The other benefit to the docks is that they keep the bikes upright in strong winds like we often get here.
I'm pretty sure there are a number of us on bikes that will put the pilons back if they're moved when passing through. It's wild that drivers can be so antisocial to moving these out of the way. As well as driving over the flex posts when they were there. Share the road I guess ๐
That's a win! It's like a free loan. The alternative is that the gov borrowed from you ๐ฑ.
It was in the middle of the opening during on of my trips but seems to keep getting pulled to the side.
Someone moved the big traffic cone thing into the middle. Hero!
Donham Diverter, the center cleared of snow but stripped of its flex posts.
RIP Donham Diverter. Not sure if it was done intentionally but the center of the diverter is now clear for cars. And yes of course they're taking advantage.
The Quingate path with a very narrow opening.
The path was looking pretty tight today!
I rode through there after work. The approaches are super tight. The path is not very comfy with bikes going in both directions. It also was nice of them to leave a bunch of trash on the path at the Quingate start of it.
What seems to be missing from this thread is that even if you can't use the bike infrastructure it doesn't mean that you don't benefit from it. The more people who switch to biking because they are enabled by new safe routes takes more and more cars off the road easing congestion for everyone else.
It's me, moments before a dump truck quickly pulled up beside me at the light, inches from my handlebars.
I find the MTB skill definitely help to keep things upright when you need to get through areas of deep snow and both wheels have zero traction. It can be kind of fun when you're seperate from traffic, in a painted bike lane though, never.
As someone who lives nearby, don't tempt us.
The curb cut is actually not too bad looking at street view. It's going to be tricky in a big bike, but it does somewhat align with the new path still. The width of the path is what really concerns me.
Construction on the Windsor/Quingate MUP
What a great time of year to do this work.

Quinpool Canadian Tire has skate sharpening. As a casual skater they seem to have done a reasonable job.
Groomed multi-use trail etiquette.
I should probably also include xc ski trail etiquette in case anyone decides to check out these trails specifically. scotiaxc.ca/xc-ski-safet...
