I swear the only person worse at flirty dirty sexy talk than Miles and Keiko is me, and I have major preacher kid purity culture baggage, is my excuse (and at least I’m aware of my shortcomings)

Well they aren’t going to suddenly become biblically literate so… yeah the next move is probably just ChatGPT hallucinations. “Verily verily I say unto thee, this is definitely a real Bible saying from the authorized King James-eth and Donald J. Trump Version”

Hegseth Borrows Violent Prayer from ‘Pulp Fiction’ to Bless Iran War at April Pentagon Worship Service For the second month in a row, Pete Hegseth, who likes to call himself “secretary of war,” read a violent prayer — that echoes a scene in the Quentin Tarantino film Pulp Fiction — during a worship ser...

what’s funny about this is that tarantino wrote this “ezekiel 25:17“ for the film. it isn‘t actually in the bible. publicwitness.wordandway.org/p/hegseth-bo...

Also, like the Sisko goatee but really dislike the theme music shift with season 4

Do you think DS9 intentionally made Miles and Keiko a train wreck? Is Miles supposed to be closeted bi? Is my childhood religious upbringing making it hard to see the obvious, or is the show itself incoherent and double minded? I can’t tell, even now, on series rewatch for the umpteenth time

Disability, Marginalization, and “AI Ethics” After far too long of being denied as a valid realm of concern, the role and ethical implications of marginalization, human values, and beliefs in ...

So when I was a kid, I was adamant that I was gonna go to Georgetown, maybe play basketball, and then Georgetown Law.

None of those things ever happened, but I have been lucky enough to get opportunities to speak and teach at both Georgetown and Georgetown Law. One of those opportunities is today:

“AI Jesus made me do it” is next season’s most fashionable courtroom defense strategy

I don't know how to explain to the people who pop up when creatives complain about "AI" to say there are legit uses for it just how much they sound like someone saying "Well actually fire is used to make bread" when people are talking about an organized arson ring burning down their fucking houses

An "AI" company saying "we have this super magic new model that is so powerful that we cannot release it" is just marketing. It's the old OpenAI scam.
Anthropic needs to keep the hype going to ride it to the IPO. That's all this is.

UPDATE — MEMPHIS: Elon Musk’s xAI promised the community they’d build a water recycling plant as part of the pitch for getting support for moving in.

Surprise! it’s now on “indefinite pause” 🤔 (despite claims to the contrary)

Everything about this description of the Harvard situation is terrible. Just lurching from one bad idea to the next! It’s like the decision makers believe that giving good advice doesn’t need to involve human relationality or judgment, at all.

"But X is useful" is not the good defense you think it is.

Who is it useful to, for what purposes and who bears the costs/harms?

Child labor is useful (to people wanting to squeeze out some money from desperate people). We still think that it should not exist.

Calling for a cease-fire in the evening does not somehow erase calling for the genocide of an entire civilization the same day.
This is erratic and reckless leadership. In fact it isn't leadership at all. It has never been leadership.
It has always been authoritarianism, white supremacy, and greed.
And to think this even remotely represents Christianity is just beyond comprehension.
It still must be opposed. It still must end.
Our country deserves better. Our men and women in uniform deserve better. Our kids deserve better. Our world deserves better.

That’s what Trump just did. 1/
