And our heat pump survey found especially high levels of satisfaction with heat pumps among households who switched from oil and LPG boilers

Chart shows annual heating bills for medium-sized home with an oil boiler (£1,476), an LPG boiler (£1,473) and a heat pump (£784), all at current energy prices. The heat pump is considerably cheaper to run, saving over £650

The UK government has announced £9,000 subsidies for households with oil and LPG boilers to get a heat pump.

This is seriously good deal for rural homes - not only does it lower the upfront cost, a mid-sized home could save over £650 a year by switching from oil to a heat pump at current prices...

Whenever someone chirps on a post and says electric busses can't possibly work in the mid west or east coast.

Could you get that gas pump nozzle out of your 🫏?

Incredible what we can accomplish when folks elect competent leadership and lead through regulations!

Fleur Anderson MP is still pretending that traffic is up on Putney Bridge because the Hammersmith Bridge closed to motor traffic in 2019. She’s just said “traffic on Putney Bridge increased by 16% between 2020 and 2023”.

Hmm, what was happening in 2020, I forget 🧐

Yes. We are saving 19-20p per kWh drawn from the battery instead of the grid.

“I take full responsibility for…” should be accompanied by some sort of action of contrition, up to and including tendering resignation.
It is NOT just a form of words.

I snaffled a really good FiT deal. Hard to do now. But the battery is the business: that has literally halved our bill.

“Your car has had its MOT”, the garage said. So I drove away - only to be stopped just down the road by the police.
Well how was I to know it had failed?

I am saving (au minimum!) £1,000 pa on solar, £1,000 pa on the EV, and £1,000 on the battery.
Last year my energy supplier paid us £12…

🌈 Great day for Europe‘s fundamental rights: The ECJ has ruled that Orbán‘s anti-LGBTI laws violate European democratic values such as equality 🇪🇺

It means the Commission must open infringement cases whenever a member state systemically breaches EU values.

The idea that you need to send corrupt sociopaths as Ambassadors to DC is so funny, because it's a standard we have never applied anywhere.

We don't appoint corrupt gangsters to embassies in Moscow or religious fanatics to Tehran.

Also, Mamdani is able to handle Trump fine without becoming him.

I've seen an argument made for Mandelson's appointment basically saying you need to be a shit to deal with Trump.

I disagree, you need a strong person of principle and integrity to stand up to him.

Look at Carney for example.

What tosh! Who on earth thinks that supporting this Labour government with its Reform-lite policies is a way to keep Reform UK out of Downing Street?
There is no possible mechanism by which that can happen.

The *entire Starmer project* needs to be understood as one big Jobs For The Boys operation. That’s why McSweeney - Labour’s squillionaire bungs officer - spent 2017-19 running around telling dejected MPs to hold tight, because he was going to hook them back up with their clout, status and freebies.

Two thirds of homes in Northern Ireland use home heating oil.
500 litres of heating oil currently costs £412.51 - 89% higher than the same time last year, when it would have cost £218.66, and 60% higher than pre-pandemic levels.

There is a widespread belief that you cannot get a cheap nighttime electricity tariff in Northern Ireland.
This is untrue.

"How many other people are working for your government without getting UK security vetting clearance?"

Nick Thomas-Symonds, Minister for the Cabinet Office, tells @vicderbyshire.bsky.social he "would sincerely hope that there are none", but that the government will "absolutely" find out

‘just how central was Peter Mandelson to the Starmer project’ is a question that is becoming increasingly close to being permissible, and I think Starmer is 100% done once it starts being asked
