12 pretty bad minutes 😬
Having said all of this, Arteta not knowing his best combinations in attack has been a growing cause for concern.
As in, as soon as Saka was fit - Madueke played less, as soon as Odegaard was fit, Eze played less. They then both got injured again at different times — it’s just a factor worth noting in the squad depth (Arsenal) vs squad quality (Liverpool) debates.
fwiw, @migueldelaney.bsky.social — it had seemed Arteta had changed - Saliba, Saka and others not risked when they had minor knocks this season, so it’s interesting it hasn’t worked.
Maybe Arsenal should’ve spent big on Guehi and Semenyo, but hey, there’s more to that 😏
The point still stands, they haven’t played enough together because of the clusters of other injuries.
As Miguel says, whether that it on Arteta or not is up for debate but it’s concerning that April is a poor month in his tenure. Something, amongst others, that Pep is ahead of his peers.
Those back ups have also been injured — you’re going to read this as excuse, but it’s an inescapable fact that the cluster of the injuries mean that players like Eze and Havertz haven’t played together, nor Madueke and Odegaard, or even Madueke and Eze.
There is capacity but no rhythm.
I was extremely glad when I realised it was on BBC, immediately muted but the 5 minutes of TNT made my ears bleed. Local radio stuff.
I’m afraid this is a situation where you absorb any financial outlay for ethical considerations. That’s it, it’s not complicated. Yes, they’re all lies - managers and clubs lie all the time.
It doesn’t matter if Partey gets cleared, so do ~85% of rapists.
The morality is more important here.
“He does not fit our style of play.”
“We’ve moved on from the player.”
“We have other options.”
“We have very high expectations to be met.”
They were more limited but they could have still just not played him.
Incredible nonsense from a team with slower restart stats than Arsenal, you just don’t like it because you lost and you liked yesterday because you won. The bitterness is bizarre.
“Trained”.
So one bloke in a suit, 3 former players and a single referee.
Ok, Brian - go fetch some wool.
So those people are right, but ex players and officials who thought the foul of Kai was a penalty are wrong?
You know the panel is just a random group of ex pros, right?
and the penalty Arsenal should have had vs Everton at the weekend?
Doesn’t quite fit the mental gymnastics on display here.
Yes, bigger club with huge revenue and greater expectation spends more money.
We marvel at the genius on display.
Oh no! £120m a year when their competitors are spending more, shocking - more as we have it from Huw (Hugh)!
so much content for @arseblog.com
Winter breaks, ease the schedule, rearrange games and of course something that cannot be helped — the week to week physicality of the PL clearly has an impact on freshness.
and yet the PL does nothing to support teams in Europe à la La Liga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.
Competition breeds exhaustion.
Holy hell, it looks bad and it is *bad*.
a face offside, no less
I assume my reaction to this bloke is what people pretend Arteta is like but my god, does he ever shut up. Gone by the end of 2026, you’d think.
Aha nah but creating only 0.89xG at home, you run the risk of
Are we having 0.89xG as having deserved a win from Leeds though
Also 5(?) open play vs Sunderland…
and Martinelli that every game is the Champions League
Newcastle, Woltemade goal.
