The new convention center would “provide 3,700 permanent jobs and about 5,000 construction jobs.”
According to @rebuildbydesign.bsky.social a $3 billion investment in #ClimateResilience could support 26,000 jobs.
So a new convention center would provide a $10 ROI.
According to the US Chamber of Commerce, every dollar invested in preparedness can save communities $13 in economic impact, damages, and cleanup costs.
Love how @grist.org's Kate Yoder uses this essay on "How the Trump administration’s climate math doesn’t add up" as an excuse to slay the age-old climate-vs-the-economy trope.
Climate vs fossil-fueled profits? Of course.
Climate vs economy? Nope.

(1/7) As is common as winter transitions into spring, this weather/climate shift came in fits and starts this March. Included were some rapid thermal flips, occasional powerful winds, and enough rain in the north to ease drought concerns but well below-normal rain in the south, a region that...
That “we need to provide better information to students about which programs are worth the time and expense” should not be the primary takeaway here. It’s that we don’t sufficiently compensate professions that are important to the healthy functioning of our society.
Progress continues on the Rebuild by Design Hudson River Project!
From Resist feature construction to gate installations, critical flood protection infrastructure is taking shape to help safeguard Hoboken and parts of Jersey City and Weehawken from storm surge events. (1/2)

Good news, though how good will depend on what the funding opportunity entails. Nevertheless, one federal program is not enough to address #NJ’s needs (let alone the entire country).
Say it with me now…NJ needs a stable state funding source to invest in #ClimateResilience.
How is NJ advancing statewide climate resilience?

Thank you to @dep.nj.gov leaders who gave us an understanding of the administration's priorities, and Dr. Susanne Moser who helped us define “transformational resilience” and promote “adaptive minds.” Shoutout to Assm. Ravi Bhalla for joining us and Senator @kim.senate.gov for his inspiring words.
This week, I had the privilege of co-hosting the #NJ Coastal & #ClimateResilience Conference in partnership with the NJ Coastal Resilience Collaborative. We saw over 400 attendees invested in NJ’s future, eager to find new solutions, and ready to work together towards a more #ResilientNJ.
“We believe in climate change but we object to every single proposal you have to help make people more resilient” is just climate denialism in another form, and we should label it so.
The next big gusher for the fossil fuel industry, which they are drilling for now and is worth billions of $$$ to them, is congressional immunity from climate damages.

🧵 The adage “wash, rinse, repeat” is an appropriate one when reviewing New Jersey’s weather and climate conditions over this past winter.
Invest in #ClimateResilience.
The entire basis for this issue in one quote.
“…misinformation and confusion is circulating everywhere about New Jersey’s new flood elevation regulation.”
