It's Swallowing Awareness Day! A day to think about that marvel of anatomy in your throat, the larynx. You swallow hundreds of times per day - should I repost this every time I swallow? No, that's crazy - way too many swallows! Swallowing Awareness Day! Hooray!
To celebrate Dysphagia Awareness Day (19th March), East Sussex Hospitals Trust is hosting a creative writing competition. 500 words max. on the subject of swallowing difficulties, tube feeding, digestion etc. as a short story, poem or reflection. Get those creative juices appropriately modified!
Winner will be announced on Swallowing Awareness Day
19th March 2025. Judged by Clara Heathcock, Editorial Coordinator Penguin Random House UK. Submissions will be unveiled on Swallowing Awareness Day. Let’s raise awareness together, one word at a time!

Researching Nasogastric Tube feeding decision-making and finding that so many interesting articles lump NGTs, PEGs, IV fluids, TPN etc. into one 'Feeding Tube' group, thus losing interesting distinction
This article highlights the absolute necessity for joined up mgmt. of acutely admitted individuals with PD, where their function (inc. swallow) can be so dependent on timely identification, decision-making and medication. An area where SLT often take the lead
