Honda has successfully launched and landed an experimental reusable rocket during a test, with a great video showing the feat. Landing within 37 cm of target.
The new on-device Foundation Models are a big deal. I'm looking forward to using them in future apps and seeing what new models become available. Everything runs locally. No account creation, subscriptions, networking, or data privacy shenanigans.
It seems like iOS 26 makes use of HDR to make whites brighter than standard white in select moments like touch-down states and certain text labels.
This effect already exists in iOS 18’s App Store app, where some white text (e.g. white text on a yellow background) uses HDR to improve contrast.

I'm also not a fan of the elevated top bar buttons, they don’t need to be that prominent.
I hope macOS 26 moves away from the current padded sidebar style and returns to the previous full-bleed design. The first iteration of Figma UI 3 had a similar issue. It reduced usable space, and the canvas felt obscured because it extended beneath the sidebar surface.
These features often matter more to visually impaired users, but they are frequently overlooked by design teams. I'm advocating for less focus on checking a color contrast box and more focus on accessibility as user choice and adaptability.
Making everything meet WCAG AAA contrast can actually reduce information hierarchy and hurt legibility for everyone. Accessibility today is about adaptability. Most modern platforms offer UI options for increased contrast, larger text, bolder fonts, reduced motion, and transparency settings.
WCAG AAA color contrast was established for the web, during a time when many monitors were poorly calibrated or displayed contrast inaccurately. Display technology has improved a lot over the past decade, and color is now rendered much more accurately.
..that's an outdated and overly simplistic way of thinking about accessibility, even when talking just about visual accessibility and color contrast. There's more nuance, and a need for contextual application.
I often see designers criticize the accessibility of a UI by first looking at color contrast and rejecting anything that doesn't meet WCAG AAA color contrast. I get it: It's measurable, easy to test, and widely known. However... (1/5)
The rough edges of the new Liquid Glass design language will definitely be refined by launch and in future updates.
Apple’s new design language uses their silicon and Metal framework to create an interface that can’t easily be copied by Google or Samsung. Competitors have to support a wider range of hardware, often with lower specs. This is the right way for Apple to stand out.
The power of Metal shaders in Apple's UI design
I didn't pre-order a Switch 2 or get one at launch. What are the best ways to get hold of one now? Without going via the resell market.

Started making my dream house moodboard in FigJam, for absolutely no reason at all
There has to be a better way to create App Store marketing screenshots across multiple languages and devices. I’ve been doing it like this in in Figma. Open to any better tools or workflows!
These in motion are especially delightful
Loving the new Airbnb icons when they’re used as illustrations or as part of the main content. Not so much when they’re part of the navigation UI. Still, seeing them makes me want to get back into learning 3D modeling.
Now on the App Store:
apps.apple.com/us/app/quick...
It's built in SwiftUI, localized to 12 different languages, and works on iPhone or iPad. Thank you to everyone who gave feedback on the TestFlight build!
Started building this about a couple of months ago while attending a conference. I wanted to easily give people my Instagram, website, LinkedIn, or LINE, etc, without having to figure out how to launch the QR code on each app individually.
Launching my latest app today: Quick Codes.
A little app to create and collect all your QR codes.

To me "split" feels better on larger screens, while "unified" works best on smaller ones. That said, "unified" is probably more familiar, since that’s how it’s typically displayed in the command line.
