A blue graphic with white text says: "The revised charter paves the way for an unqualified committee to promote misleading narratives about vaccine safety." American Public Health Association and 130+ partners. At the bottom of the graphic is the APHA logo
Make no mistake — the Trump administration's new proposal to revise the ACIP will jeopardize access to vaccines, period. We must not allow the committee to be used to sow confusion & distrust.

Worth reading and reflecting on this essay by @madhupai.bsky.social. In Comox, BC I too felt grateful to receive my first dose of the vaccine five years ago this week and was so impressed by the smooth operation of the process in my community. I appreciate the global perspective highlighted here.
A fitting post on National Indigenous Nurses Day to highlight the career of Edith Monture and her many contributions to health care at home and overseas during WW1.
RIP to a great man. He was the unnamed UN official I was alluding to in an earlier post today.
As a global health scholar, Mr Lewis was a towering figure in my field. The nation should truly mourn this loss.

ANAND: "We will continue to stand up for the true north, strong and free, as we expect our allies, partners, and all other countries to respect that sovereignty."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated his life fighting for equity and justice. He taught us that even in the face of intimidation and discrimination, we must never stop working towards a better future – a lesson that feels especially relevant today.
Dozens of people rallied in Nunavut's capital today in solidarity with Inuit people in Greenland who are concerned about U.S. President Donald Trump's renewed threats to take control of the island.

"It's another reminder as to how much work we have to do on a daily basis to try to increase vaccination, ensure people have trust in vaccines, that their questions are being answered, and that they have a lot of confidence in getting vaccinated to protect themselves and their loved ones."
So sad to learn about the Alberta Government's approach to the COVID vaccine program this year and fees that individuals and families will have to pay. Many will miss out.

So sad to read: "White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said Thursday that a statement from Monarez’s lawyers “made it clear she was not aligned with the president’s mission to make American health again,” so Kennedy asked for her resignation." Does anyone in the WH care about public health?
