181,437 households who used the Help to Buy scheme had fully paid their equity loan by March 2025.
Help to Buy has so far generated a net return on investment of £1.02 billion for the Exchequer...

The Prime Minister has set an ambition to increase homeownership rates to 70%. Yet, recent ONS data shows, the average home in London is unaffordable for even the top 10% of earners. In fact, only in the North East was the average home affordable to median earners.
Help to Buy primarily supported those on middle incomes, with 73% of the first-time buyers benefitting from the scheme having had a household income below £60,000.... (worth noting, households earning £80,000 to £90,000 in London can qualify for publicly-subsidised Shared Ownership housing).
A critical but often overlooked fact about Help to Buy is the scale of impact it had on increasing access to home ownership for real people
The equity loan scheme supported 387,195 households into homeownership... including 328,346 first-time buyers.

He said that the industry’s ability to deliver new homes is increasingly being constrained by viability pressures, and called for a moratorium on new taxes impacting the sector
Looking ahead, about a third of construction businesses plan to integrate AI for training purposes in the coming months, and only 6% expect it to reduce headcount in the future - compared to an average of 11% across all sectors.

7% of businesses in other industries report that AI has reduced their headcount, the impact on construction companies is around 0%. Instead, the majority of construction firms using AI are focusing on training their existing workforce, highlighting the industry’s commitment to skill development.
