My thoughts usually come while I’m in the shower or in my bed 😂 But I’ll write at any time 😊

Hello! I’m a day late because of course I am 😂 Im Nikki, and currently working on The Dark Curse an MG Portal Fantasy/Adventure Novel. Miles is a regular kid who falls into a video game and never wants to leave 🙃 relatable, really.

I replied with “the one that says ‘call me but love…’” and she must have thought I was picking such a profound quote. “Call me but love, and I'll be new baptized.” (Romeo loves Juliet so much that he’ll change his name to be w/her)
But no, I just was a teenager and was like “hehehe, butt love” 😂
When I was getting my yearbook signed in 6th year in High School (senior year) I asked my English teacher to sign it. She was my favourite teacher (shocking, I know)
We studied Romeo and Juliet and she asked my favourite quote, so that she could write that in… (1/2)
I don’t know if I’m just “at a certain age” or what, but I struggle to understand Discord… which sucks because I can see that so many lovely writers are using it but I just can’t figure it out 😮💨 (more tech savvy people than me might wonder what there is to figure out 🤣)
Saaaaame 🤣
I got to DM for two first time players of D&D this weekend. They had never played before but wanted to after seeing Stranger Things. Nerve-wracking as that’s a high bar and they’re not going to be doing all the cool stuff that experienced players are.
But they enjoyed it and will play again - yay!!
Your story is magical; it makes people hallucinate while looking at plain words on a paper (or screen). That is something to be proud of!
I’m definitely a pantser. Before I start writing, I have an idea of what I’m going to write and may even write it down but then when I start to write, it somehow goes in a completely different direction 🤣
I’ve played D&D for the past three days in a row, it’s like a dream come true 😍 … I get the feeling that only the people who play D&D and have felt the sting of the BBEG “scheduling conflicts” will know what I’m talking about 🤣
Thank you for the information, as well as the insight on the post, I’ll check out Vicky’s substack 😊
Since I put forward my MG Fantasy for #revpit I have a couple of Rick Riordan’s novels to catch up on! Apart from those, I’m looking forward today tackling Onyx Storm (I didn’t want to start reading until she was working on the sequel 😂)
Oh wow, not over 50k for MG? That is rough! Mine is way over that - and that’s after 10k words cut 😬
As a reader, I like short or medium chapters. Nothing worse than getting to the end of a chapter, checking the length of the next chapter and then just closing the book because it’s too long.
I write shorter chapters and worry about that, so your post was reassuring to read!
I could list so many authors here. If I enjoy their book, I love them!
Meg Cabot’s style influenced the way I wrote my 3 YA books, so she is up there. I’d read a shopping list if SJM wrote it. Milly Johnson is a new love as I just feel like her books are a warm hug. Jenny Nimmo, Rick Riordan…
A sweet moment between Miles and his dad 🥰
My cutie patootie Jacob, affectionately known as Chonk
After an altercation with a sea monster, discontent brews in the group.
I don’t have a theme song or playlist for my book, but since I imagine my Miles falling into a JRPG specifically, I think the music from Dragon Quest would work 😂
I wrote (and illustrated) a story called SuperNik at aged 8 that totally wasn’t a complete rip-off of Superman 🤣
Love this! A kettle in the home office/library/room I totally need? Genius!
So considerate, thank you ❤️
I feel this! I’ve definitely read good books, but not enjoyed them enough because I haven’t been in the right headspace for it. Thankfully, a reread proved that they’re actually good 😅 Fingers crossed for you with ToG!
If you like fantasy, then yes, you absolutely do! Book one is good, but sets up so much for the rest of the series. Definitely worth giving it another go. It’s easily her best series.
Same here!!
The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas is my favourite series for sure. It has everything I love: strong, complex female characters. A rich fantasy world. Twists and turns that you’d never see coming. So good 😍
Yes, MC is also queer 😊 I’ve been saying something along the lines of “as a queer person, I like to write queer people…” So I’m glad that’s appropriate 😅
Thank you for the info and time!
