QTS? Check. PGCE? Check. Full-time post teaching secondary Computing (and Maths)? Check. It's been an absolute whirlwind of a first half-term, but we're through. Two week break, bit of CPD, then back to it. Looking forward to a feeling of being settled into some semblance of a groove.

Ah, the joy, and horror, of seeing the reactions of Yr7s when demonstrating the consequences of sharing information on social media. One stated "I'm deleting my TikTok account". Fair play.
There are only two weeks left of short placement, before moving on to my long placement after Christmas. I already feel like I'm part of the family here. It'll be hard to leave when the time comes ๐.
That is perfect, thank you. It's the reason I'm on this journey, and it's so encouraging to hear.
I may just write that down and put it somewhere prominent to be often reminded. Fully credited, of course!
Well this looks fun!
Hi Ed. I also live in Devon near Dartmoor, which looks amazing right now under all the snow!
I'm 4 weeks away from completing my short placement of ITT (secondary, computing). Do you have any advice that you consider essential for a trainee teacher?
Nice.
What does your weekend look like, as a teacher/trainee?
After a day of observations ahead, I'll most likely follow it with a weekend of catching up on paperwork.
And yet, still having a great time!
Appreciate the input, @mracolley.bsky.social. That's helped my brain significantly. Let's get today's lessons done, then start putting fingers to keyboard!
That's precisely what I'm getting at by rural! I've got a reasonable overview of what I want to say, but I guess my biggest issue is getting it structured right, getting those words on the page. I'm overthinker, and an oversharer, so waffling does become a problem!
Currently focused on the relevance of computing, and computing opportunities, to students within a high-unemployment, low-skilled, low-income, rural region. Hard to pick a phase, but I guess KS3 to pique interest and embed concepts.
Any road up, PGCE essays. Looking for tips, tricks, advice, dos and don'ts, etc. If they're specifically based around CompSci that would be amazeballs.
The phrase "dos and don'ts" is challenging, grammatically, according to the internet. I mean, it isn't, but it is. Who knew?
So we're a few weeks in now, and have experienced "a full half-term week holiday of illness" which apparently is a real thing that gets got by those wot teach...
Whoah. First placement day came around FAST!. If you've any expert tips on having the best first day experience, now is the time to share ๐
Week 3 done. Truly motivating today, discussing the positive attitudes of the current student generation's attitudes towards climate action, ethics, and social inclusion, and how we can ensure these principles are maintained and strengthened though our teaching practice.

Very happy to be a part of this amazing process.
Casually throwing in hashtags for awareness and some lovely, worthwhile connections :)

As a 2nd week trainee, this is precisely what I need/want to hear. Thank you.
End of week 2 - training is intense, but so valuable, and enjoyable!
@swifttt.bsky.social
First week of ITT complete. Feels incredible to be a part of something so worthwhile, and training with some brilliant people.
Enjoying the weekend, and getting ready for Monday!
Day 2 of ITT done. Prevent, safeguarding. Observation of a frankly awesome teacher and lesson. Inspiring stuff.
Day 1 complete. Great day, met some lovely ITT students on their own journey, and some great leaders to guide us along our chosen path.
Left feeling enthused, excited, and supported. A great start!
Day 1 of ITT. Let the games begin!
There are somengreat tips here. I'll be trying out variations of them during the start of my first placement during training. Only a few short weeks to go!
Wait. Who's asking for them to be removed? ๐ฒ
Thanks!
Thank you, Tim. I'll do just that.
Thank you Steve. I will do just that!
Works beautifully! Thank you so much!
Very happy to have been offered a scholarship through the BCS (www.bcs.org). The additional support, guidance, resources, and 2 years' Pro membership will no doubt prove valuable during my training and my career.
Just gonna sit back and let that sink in for a bit.
Thank you, and thank you!
Perfect, thank you!
