I enjoy the evolution of the Braves outfield victory celebration. It appears we’re now on to paying homage to a very Atlanta hip hop trend from earlier this century, Snap.

Braves are back

This game teaches you responsibility, honesty, and most importantly, humility. It also fosters a sense of community and compassion. These last two are the building blocks of society. That is what golf has to offer. I’m sad that TV has buried this beneath a veneer of celebrity and corporatism. Fin.

It’s viewed as a rich person’s sport, exclusive, and often, for white people. But in the country of its birth, it’s the people’s game. Open to everyone. The Scots have it right. This is everyone’s game, and everyone should at least try it.

Expand youth golf programs. Make equipment and facilities accessible and affordable. Teach the children of today the lessons that will make them pillars of tomorrow’s society. Golf in the US is skewed from all angles…

The viewers will come along as they age and as they become culturally acclimated to golf. Many of those viewers will never play the game. That is not a problem to be solved. It’s fine. I do think it’s important to get young people playing the game. It starts early…

Ok, I read it. And I agree. People will watch golf as they get older. But not everybody who watches will play, and vice versa. And THAT’S OK. ESPN is chasing passersby (unnecessary), and Augusta and the PGA Tour are going along (misguided)…

I haven’t read this piece yet (I will), but golf viewers and golf participants are distinct groups who barely overlap, and we need to grow the latter, regardless of what broadcasters think about how to grow the former.
