is this also a good time to mention that the ivf clinic mulder and scully used was not exactly the pinnacle of ethical sample keeping and hudson is exactly the right age to play an agent where the resemblance could turn into a plot point

the stained glass says “i believe in you” in latin, and on one pillar it reads “i had the strength of your belief (faith)” whilst on the other it reads “you’re my one in five billion”. She said if she could have any non existent merch, it’d be a poster paralleling msr in the og series to the revival. So, i tried to weave in her interest in scullys faith by using its imagery, and then the literal aspects of mulders beliefs - the claddagh is an irish symbol of love, loyalty, and friendship, so i thought it would b perfect to symbolise scully. the flowers in the top panels are poppies for sacrifice, lily of the valley for the return of happiness, and oleander which means both everlasting love and caution. The latin parallels some og scenes to the revival scene pictured, showing their past as being the pillars of the relationship they have now.

Details explained:

msr crack fic idea where mulder goes out of his way one year to send mrs scully a holiday card and is VERY confused when she calls him asking if everything is okay between him and dana. when he asks scully about it she goes bright red and picks up the card her mom sent her this year from the mantle, and the last two years from the hall cupboard - all addressed to “Dana & Fox”. she reveals that in an effort to stop her mother from setting her up with every slightly eligible catholic bachelor in her parish, she simply. stopped protesting when people insinuated that THEY were together. she never said they WERE, just stopped saying that they weren’t. so, you see, giving her mother a card addressed only from him may have. slightly broken the facade. it is at this point he realises that the many times he has seen maggie scully in person in the last two years have, well, not broken the facade.

honestly i think what i need is to have an idea for a short one-shot so i can get SOMETHING written and out of the way to ease into the Big Project that’s sitting in the drafts folder bc w work stress atm it just seems so Huge

i have so many scenes in my head playing over and over and over and absolutely no current ability to write any of it down

nothing in this life will make u want to write fanfiction like having a Very Bad Time at work, and yet nothing will fry your brain to the point of being unable to string together a sentence quite like it either

i really enjoy bi4bi interpretations of msr where they r very different genres of bisexual. mulder figured it out at oxford aged 20 after being propositioned in a bar, where he immediately surrendered to sheer curiosity, downed a shot and said, “fuck it, only one way to know for sure!” and then just accepted it as fact as if he found a new food he liked. on the other hand: scully had an insane codependent college friendship that she only realised the nature of fifteen years later in hindsight, after figuring out her feelings for mulder were Not Friendly, rethinking her whole understanding of friendship because how could she not know she was in love with him, and having the following epiphany of, “ah. okay. perhaps i may have kind of, slightly, done this before.”

the thing is i can never be too annoyed because i also totally get it! i too absolutely hate writing a fic summary, its just this is the only fan space i’ve ever been in where both summaries and (even on ao3) tags are just. very optional & author dependent.

my dentist cancelled my root canal re-do bc he’s unwell and i am still waiting on an appt to be checked out for the probably carpal tunnel so i am currently in an amount of nerve pain that is simply a bit unreasonable

never met a fandom so allergic to telling a reader what a fic is about, and i don’t even mean it as a negative, bc there really is something about picking ur next read purely on vibes and reputation. does sometimes drive me a little bananas but it also results in reading great fics u never would’ve
