Summary: He used to think he spent all his time with Eddie. They worked together, sometimes for days at a time, and spent almost all their off time within arms' reach. It wasn't until Eddie moved in with him, or Eddie moved back and Buck never left, or whatever it was that exactly happened that Buck realized how much more there could be. More time. More pieces of Eddie. Hidden in the corners of the pre-dawn darkness. Early mornings spent sharing the bathroom mirror, brushing their teeth side by side, fluffy-haired and bleary-eyed. Drowsy afternoons, sorting their laundry, detangling two mismatched socks stuck together by static and saying here, think this one's yours. Late nights, when a squeaking floorboard, a quiet curse pulls him back from the brink of sleep and Buck squints through his lashes against the glow of butter yellow light wafting in from the kitchen as Eddie whispers shit, sorry, just getting water, go back to sleep. Endless moments of existing in each other's orbit. And still, impossibly, wanting more. Eddie moves back and moves in, and Buck manages to be normal about it for exactly a month. (or Buck couch surfs to avoid his feelings for Eddie.)
