This one has a reputation for being "mean", but it just felt... interactive?

We were stumbling over the scoring rules, but had it down by then end. Hopefully we can play again soon, and see how a "real" play goes.

My sympathies go out to the person teaching us one of the most convoluted action+scoring systems I've seen in a while. But once the game got going, I actually enjoyed it.

Voidfall is a game that I would probably never be able to get to the table, but I'm tempted to buy just for the artwork.

It's definitely my favorite of the "card filtering" genre (what I call engine builders with hundreds of cards). It feels like I make something different each time.

Whoops, we barely played games last year! It turns out that caring for a brand new human leaves little opportunity (or energy) for extra activities. However, sleep schedules are beginning to normalize, so perhaps we'll play more in 2026.

Random board game bits and bobs are strewn about beside a main board. The board has a gajillion hex tiles that make setup/teardown take longer than I have patience for.

Revive feels like "The Eagles of Euro games". It's well made. It does a lot of things that people like... but it's just not very interesting.

"As Above So Below" was a lot of fun, like the DaVinci Code + a haunted house, but my favorite this year was a local screening of Possession (1981). So intense!
