Regardless of what your thoughts might be on AI, it's here and it isn't going away anytime soon. Students should know how to effectively use AI, and being taught the basics could be essential for the future.
AI is far from perfect - and recognising this while implementing it helps us better tackle those problems from a foundational level.

We’ve reposted your piece! It was a genuinely interesting read, and gives us plenty to think about. It seems like a difficult task to resist such a vast change, especially with how quickly education systems are trying to adopt and embrace AI into teaching, but we’re optimistic.
Should we embrace AI being implemented into education?
A thought-provoking opinion piece by Melanie Dusseau discusses this and says it’s OK to resist that change:
“Not only are we allowed to say no, we ought to think deeply about the why of that no.”

Even voice actors jobs are at risk due to AI.
Tajja Isen highlights how the cost-cutting and ease of access to generated voices may be sacrificing more than just the human element. By plugging voice recordings into AI, you can make quite convincing copies.

When utilising any AI models, be sure not to input any sensitive information. These systems do not necessarily store the information safely, and they may be susceptible to data breaches - be smart about how you use them!

This is a very interesting look into what AI deepfakes might be used for in future - the virtual Leon you used was pretty convincing, I can't say for sure if I'd have realised it was fake without prior knowledge first.
The European Commission has released the "first draft of the General-Purpose [AI] Code of Practice", an interesting insight into how other lawmakers might regulate AI in future - recommend having a read!
AI may affect even industries you wouldn't expect.

Glasgow University, like many universities, is encouraging students to make use of AI in an ethical manner - specifically generative AI. They say to:
- Acknowledge AI use in citations.
- Ensure all work is your own.
- Double check AI answers.

We’ve seen some essay questions and assessments with more open-ended questions, or they’ll be specifically about the wider course content which they suggest makes it more difficult to get a clear answer from the AI.
Do you think this approach could be be effective against AI generated work?
Heard from various lecturers how exhausting it is having to deal with AI in academic work and marking.
Your article raises some interesting points, especially on the constant uphill battle for AI detection - some go as far to conduct spoken exams in cases of suspected AI use.
Possible solution?
