Ну в любом случае сложно представить себе такую задачу пять лет назад. А сейчас берешь и делаешь, не так сложно)

If you need to keep up with news on Iran but don’t want to spend a lot of time reading everything, here’s my hackathon project exactly for that:

nova.newswatcher.me

It’s an AI-generated frontpage focused in Iran. To keep things balanced, the sources include NY Times, BBC, The Guardian and TASS

Like, imagine 5 years ago a junior dev would be asked to do something in a language they don’t know at all

The state of entry-level job search in IT: 100s or cvs sent, a few replies.

One of them from the company that looks for someone proficient in Python (yep), Go (no) and Java (no, lol), my cv is python-focused. Screening goes well. Technical task in Go, and I did it, to my abilities.

Oh yeah, that makes total sense! Stuff that I had to do myself was hard to verify, and in some cases I didn’t even know what actually I want to do, only had a vague idea, and needed to experiment and find out while writing and trying different things

side note: Amazon Nova's documentation is total ass

As always, the hardest thing and the bottleneck isn't the code, it's the idea. I came up with a nice one cause I have years of experience in this field, no AI can replicate my understanding of media consumption

it's the first project that I built with heavy use of AI agents, and my take is that it's a great tool for building scaffolding, but not a very reliable one when you are designing critical parts of the software, like db interaction and concurrent news processing. Nevertheless, it's how we will code

my hackathon project: AI newspaper that monitors news for you.

You can tailor the prompt, add additional sources (RSS and Telegram for now) and get a nice-looking frontpage. AI forms the layout of the newspaper, rewrites (and translates, if needed) headlines so they fit the overall style

But then you get an invitation, and you’re like, sorry, who are you? Did I apply? Why? What was I thinking? It’s obviously not for me, why are you selecting me?

I stopped taking job refusals personally after a hundred of them or so.

Hello, unfortunately, after careful consideration… Guys, I don’t even know who are you, I spent less time applying to this job than you processing it with AI and sending auto-refusal, I don’t care

In short, it’s a cool gimmick that we will forget about in a few months

research-web by frailtynine/research-web | Pavel Borisov The best ideas are the simplest ones. Take skills.sh. I just went to the Vercel Labs AI Agent Skills Event at The Village Underground (usually I go there for techno and live gigs, lol), and here's wha...

I went to Vercel’s skills.sh event in London yesterday and here’s my takeaway:

I bought m-vave blackbox for about 50 quid from Aliexpress and it’s amazing. Now my pedalboard looks like that. I use it for bass and guitar, sounds great

I'm always thinking about how to make our band's sound better, and all the time it's 'use less', not more. and most of the time it's not about sound, it's about the arrangement. yeah you can EQ guitars so they don't clash but it's much more efficient to write guitar parts so they don't clash

me, a 17-year old guitarist: I need more pedals! pedals are the best! change sounds as aften as possible!

me, a 40-year old guitarist: I have the cheapest IR pedal possible with exactly one sound that I use everywhere without even touching my pedalboard

You can’t have both, I guess. And I have to remind myself that my dad started to earn something that looks like money when he was 60.

I’m 40 today. On one side, my life is pretty great: I live in my favourite city with my favourite person, I skate and play in a decent band with some following. It’s more than I ever dreamt of. On the other side, I work at dead-end job that slowly kills me and I can’t start a new career because fuck
