Whoever defined adulthood as 18 and over did not have the 21st century in mind.

I am not a Mainer so it will likely never matter in a material sense, but I am and will remain Never Platner
I lay no claim to understanding the detailed economics here, but I do think wealth inequality has become so egregious in America that taxing the rich a lot more needs to be a core part of a liberal political/economic/cultural program going forward.
Someone compiled all of the Calvin and Hobbes strips about Calvin’s polls of his Dad, which is proof that good people do exist on the internet

My response to Eric Swalwell. And trust me this is as sincere as I can be.

Girl holding her watercolor painting titled "Overconsumption," which depicts a sad female with an opening in her head with pills/Facebook emojis pouring in where her brain shouid be
"Overconsumption" is one of my favorite recent watercolor paintings I've made.
The original piece is still looking for a home. www.the-inner-observer.com
I wrote about Old Space Polls and they let me keep in the phrase "Unlike the space programs they’re asking about, survey questions don’t exist in a vacuum."

If it’s a Rep v. Dem comparison, I agree wholeheartedly. But I do think that Biden was held to a substantially lower standard of conduct than Kavanaugh. I vote Democrat for a reason, but I think the patriarchy still lives on the left, just much less so than among Republican voters.
Fair. I’m thinking of the Washington Post and NYT.
Agree there.
2\2: To me, the key point is that the left wing establishment, including opinion columnists, decided that Reade was a fraud before the more in-depth reporting arrived.
1/2. I’m sympathetic on Reade. There were legitimate questions about her credibility, but also legitimate questions about why she would have raised the allegation to begin with if it wasn’t real, since she personally used the Biden connection for economic gain.
Tara Reade? Applauding Bill at the DNC Convention in 2024? Sure, the median Democrat isn’t a misogynist, but that doesn’t mean they won’t applaud a likely rapist.
There was a strong case to be made against left wing elites who were disgustingly dismissive of rural Americans.
The problem is that by voting for Trump those same rural Americans vindicated the critique, even though the left wing elites are still assholes.

A related point is that to build credibility as a mad man you need a strong record of high risk, irrational, and destructive behavior that either pays off, or at least doesn’t sink you politically.
Trump has such a record, but it came at the expense of America becoming an insane asylum.
Happy Union Day. Let us pledge to finally compete Reconstruction & also let us recall how Ely Parker absolutely owned the racist traitor Robert Edward Lee at Appomattox (from Ron Chernow’s “Grant”)

Norway's grand, romantic vistas have inspired a whole new collection of paintings. This piece depicts the fall colors I found in a valley near Geirangerfjord. The movement of color is captured with thick, impressionistic brushstrokes in my Open Impressionism style. "Autumn's Valley" Original Oil Painting by Erin Hanson 2026 40 x 60 in Original Available
