I feel like if someone is taking a dedicated English class, your first assignment should be to try and immerse yourself with the language as much as you can. Even if you don't understand it at all, that's still gonna help big time!

That's why I'm mixed on this. I had that same problem before moving to the US. xD
I only had the class to immerse myself in English, but the rest of the day was Spanish. Heck, most of the students wouldn't even commit to speak only in English, which makes it harder.

I knew people on the A1 level that could barely introduce themselves and didn't have other people who spoke their language, and they advanced a lot faster than the people who would hang out with people that did.

I'm kinda mixed on this because I do know that it would be faster to learn the language the faster you completely submerge yourself in it. Not having the option to go back to your language will speed things up a lot.
At least it's what I experienced when I moved to the US.

Picture of a venezuelan flan called Quesillo. It looks like a regular flan, however the top half of the flan adapted a dark caramel color.

Whenever I make flan [quesillo] after I flip it and take it out of the container, I plate it and it's all good.
This last time, because I didn't want to clean an extra plate, I left it on its original container.
... then it absorbed the extra caramelized sugar on the bottom and look at this! :0

Look, I'd like to do something like this, but the fact is I used my patreon as a test to see how many people would be willing to pay for my work.
