(That being said, I would like it to not involve as many hardships as it currently does, so if you could please stop enabling and voting for transphobic rhetoric, stand up for us when our personhood is attacked, correct those you seespreading disinformation about us, that would be great, thx xo)

Because the more of us who exist openly as we are, the less those hardships can sting and constrain us.
It’s truly humbling, and gives me an enormous sense of comfort and pride.
And being able to put that energy out into the world, for the kind of people, like a young Jaycie, who desperately need it. That, for me, makes all of this worthwhile, no matter the hardships I have to face.
Existing, Visible, and Proudly transgender.
Maybe they’re not out yet, maybe they haven’t had the exposure to the same knowledge and understanding that I have, maybe they are just still figuring themselves out and who they are and what they want. But they will have me, and people like me, who, despite everything, are still here.
So if nothing else, what I am proud of this Trans day of visibility – is the thought that somewhere in my day to day life, maybe through comedy, or through the friendships and bonds I make, maybe just the vibes I give off existing as myself in public. Is that visibility can be there for others.
I had no one, for so many years, no one like me to look up to, to even help me understand and conceptualise my own feelings of gender dysphoria and what resources were available to help with that.
It is the lack of sight I had of people like me growing up.
Trans people were a novelty, a mental illness, a quirk for the entertainment of cis people.
But I’ll tell you what does keep me going? What makes being visible worthwhile despite the objective danger it puts me in?
So yeah, it’ll come as no surprise to any of you that I’m actually not all that enthused about being visible as a trans person as of late.
This last year has been absolutely heartbreaking to be a trans person, seeing not only our societal acceptance collapsing, but seeing folk celebrating as it happens.
Because of the hysteria around us, the few rights and dignities we did have access to, basic amenities such as being able to use bathrooms with minimum risk, legal recogntions and robust protections from discrimination, children being kicked out of girl guides through no fault of their own.
We are predators, brainwashing children, undermining women’s achievements.
More eloquent folk than me have debunked these myths thousands of times over, so I won’t waste time trying to convince anyone of our basic humanity – point is visibility as a trans person rn is frankly dangerous.
But now we’ve got to a point where bad faith actors have weaponised bigotries and discomforts about us to skyrocket us into one of the biggest culture war issues of the day – and start a borderline satanic panic about the mere existence and integration of transgender people into day to day life.
But even as someone who had known there was something going on with my gender for the best part of 2 decades at this point, even if I was lacking the language and understanding to fully conceptualise that at the time, I certainly didn’t think about trans people for the vast majority of those years.
Maybe you'd encountered trans people in the sparing media appearances we made, and thought it was a novel but ultimately harmless thing. Perhaps, like many of us, you'd used us or laughed at us as the butt of a joke (Not calling you out, I certainly did before I knew better.)
I think for most of us, if we're honest with ourselves, none of us really had any real thoughts about transgender people in any context, unless you either knew some of us, or knew you were one of us to some level.
On the one hand, there is something incredibly beautiful about just...being seen for who you are, and getting to exist as your authentic self.
On the other, increased trans visibility has inadvertently led to a disproportionately massive increase in hostility towards trans people.
Trans Visibility is a weird one.

Me and my bestie taking a pre day out selfie, all made up in slutty witchy goth vibes
A pic of me outside a door in a crop top with cross neck straps, midriff out, hoodie tied around my waist, chainmaille over skirt and long black skirt and boots, looking off into the distance. My fringe has a lil grey Streek and I really like it
Another selfie of me closer up in the same outfit just after making myself up, with messy turquoise eye shadow, mascara and a hint of metallic purple lipstick on
A smiling selfie of me ready to go out in the same look as the other pics
I'm not saying I've _never_ felt sexy or loved how I've looked before, but how much I fancy myself in the pics of me all dressed up for witch fever last night is several notches above what I thought was possible.
Thanks so much @scarlettblades.bsky.social for a lovely couple days 🥰🥰

Netanyahu Calls Iran Strikes Necessary To Prevent War He Just Started
A cute photo of me sticking my tongue out with blue eye shadow and hair in a cute ponytail with the caption "What a frightening- and toxic - new world Britain just woke up to. The Greens are poison
another photo of me pulling the peace sign with one hand and tongue blepping out wearing red eye shadow and my hair in cute curtain fringe framing my face and the caption "What are the Green Party's BONKERS policies? From 'DISGUSTING' plan to legalise heroin to letting in ALL illegal migrants"
So I thought I'd attempt to make this a trend and have started adding these captions to my own cute selfies! Hours of entertainment honestly, enjoy xoxo
A telegraph headline reading "The Greens' extrimist victor pushes Britain one step closer to the abyss" by Jake Wallis Simons, over an adorable photo of Hannah Spencer taking a selfie with Green party leader Zack Polanski with the cutest smiles
A headline reading "Extreme Greens pose a threat to Britain" with a photo of Hannah Spencer just eating chips and curry in the street with a smile on her face
So my favourite thing about this week (apart from the obvious of @greenparty.org.uk 's decisive win in the by-election!!) is how normal the right wing media are being by posting these doom headlines about the greens next to the cutest possible pictures of Hannah Spencer
