Many years ago, they closed the exit ramp and moved the exchange further down the highway. They jackhammered the asphalt and carried it away but the guard rails of the ramp still sit along the tall mound. It’s overgrown now with grasses and the kind of flowers that grow on the side of the road.

I drive past it every day. It’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it, but I’m always looking for it. It leads to somewhere magical and someday I’ll pull over and walk up it until it takes me there and I won’t have to look back because everything will be ahead of me.
