A late response to @thetoypress.bsky.social prompt!

Thank you to @brianmosespoet.bsky.social for sharing my poem, mind such wonderful offerings by other poets!
Our friends @englishassociation.bsky.social are running a conference on Saturday 16 June that looks well worth attending www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ea-confere...
This year's CLiPPA shortlist is absolutely sensational! The judges have a tricky task ahead.
If you haven't already, do make sure you sign your school up to take part in the shadowing scheme. It's a great way to get children celebrating poetry together.

A great achievement! Very well deserved!
'you're', not 'your'. Sorry for the slip!
And a wealth of pieces on all aspects of Language for all A Level Language students, with lots of fresh research material by linguists, teachers curated by our very own @englangblog.bsky.social

I wrote this, on the teaching of poetry, in 2018. I stick by every word of it. It feels important to re-state these things now, as the National Curriculum is being written & poetry needs to be included in ways that do justice to its power & potential. www.englishandmedia.co.uk/blog/teachin...
Hope you find it interesting!
Great to see Ben Emmel, who wrote for emagazine as an A Level student, now writing for a university newspaper! I’m sure he’ll go far. emag student writers continue to shine! www.redbrick.me/theatre-revi...
In 2019 I did a lecture for @natecommunity.bsky.social Conference on 'the big picture' in curriculum & learning in English. I was reminded of it, seeing an excellent post by @marymyatt.bsky.social this am – one of many she's doing that I strongly agree with. www.englishandmedia.co.uk/blog/big-pic...
Ok, so nice conversation here and my quandary is over, for today. Here's a little bit of silliness for today. A kids' poem that I had fun writing.
And competitions! It makes it really important to keep track.
I have! Anthologies and books are generally fine. Magazines and competitions less so.
Just this! The poem I wrote this morning may (almost certainly!) never be published elsewhere. But I hestitate to share it, just in case. I've shared a few favourites and then regretted it.
I do get it. But I know of some wonderful poets for children who've effectively stopped sharing poems on SM. What a shame. Their poetry can enrich all our lives, and, while some of their poems might end up in books or win competitions, many may never see the light of day as a result of the rules.
