Without even thinking about it, PRINCESS BRIDE popped into my head.
But if I think about it for a moment, maybe CAT PEOPLE (the original black and white).
This motivated me to look up the list below to refresh my remembry and now I just want to rewatch (almost) all these films for 1000 nights...

I'll be traveling when the next season premieres. Probably even walking through some garden in London, just coincidentally.
P.S. You can try to get rid of this guy, but he'll just keep on regenerating...
Got to the end of Hulu's #RIVALS.
Well, shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. All this for gardening shows.
Signal no longer supports SMS texts. What are you all using for SMS that didn't just come preloaded on your phone?
Zine cover reading: MAY DAY STRONG Friday, May 1, 2026 HERE'S WHAT YOU DO No school, no work, no shopping
Made a #MayDayStrong zine! Here's what we're all doing on Friday, May 1, 2026, friends -- and why! Check out the zine in this thread and check out maydaystrong.org for events near you!
In the bottom left of downshot photo is a small frog or toad in shallow water on a rocky bit of ground only inches away from a lake or pond edge. One has to look closely to find it.
Oh, hello. Almost didn't see you there...

There are some important things to remember in terms of Awards-shortlist day etiquette. A short thread.
Even folks I really like and respect make some blunders on this stuff.
1) Allow people to enjoy the shortlist. Avoid dismissing the finalists (whomever they are) for at least a month.
One of the least fun moments of my life was seeing some people I thought of as friends trashing Uncanny winning a Hugo on social media hours after the win. This was as I was in a PICU with Caitlin, who had almost died two days before. Hot takes can wait.
This is the most important thing you will read today β and probably the whole year, honestly.
We cannot let the AMOC collapse. For one thing it will make Iceland uninhabitable, and I would really like my children and grandchildren not to become refugees. But the effects will be almost everywhere.
BFFs Celia and Jasper really want to get adopted together - do you have space for two new best friends? πΆπΆ
A US army sergeant with 27 years of military service β including deployment to Afghanistan β has said that federal immigration agents recently arrested his wife during an appointment at an El Paso, Texas, immigration office.
Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer just resigned. She retaliated against women who reported her husband for sexual misconduct, made staff clean her personal closet, drank on the job.
Thatβs the third Trump cabinet secretary out since January. All three were women.ββββββββββββββββπ§

K: Who did it?
S: Did what?
K: Killed Ken.
I glanced at him. He was there when it happened. Why was he asking me? He pointed at his phone. I looked at mine.
K: Fog
K: In my head
K: Nothing there
K: They say repressed #trauma
K: Who took Ken's life away?
S: I didn't see his face.
It's like a preemptive block; they've just shown you how dickish they can be to someone else so you assume at some point they'll be dickish to you - ergo block.
Have been writing posts on and off today that are related to human behavior and psychology and then I go look up the writing word of the day... talk about timing...
Re: MRNA, they fear and attack what they don't understand.
Re: Masking, the plague was so terrifying that they had to find targets to lash out at in order to feel less vulnerable and helpless. Now they desperately want "normal" to come back rather than admit COVID is still here and still harmful.
Has Trump ever in his life used the word "whatsoever"?
He probably ranted at someone while they took dictation and added a whole bunch of extra words that don't even exist in Trump's melting brain.
Seems like he's so gone that he can't even write his own rants now.

(Never attempt a complex post after doing outdoor work for two hours in the sun.)
My whole life I've watched self-appointed experts piss all over every form of entertainment and media. I don't why they're sour about humanity sharing ideas the metaphor, pushing radical concepts, reaching out to show empathy, and constructing examples about how we can live better, more moral lives.
The most powerful and relevant series I've seen that echo the fight we are currently fighting for our democracy are ANDOR and THE MANDALORIAN. Exactly the right stories for this moment of hell that we are living through. Phenomenally done.
I'm not a comic or Star Wars fan. I just love good stories.
Many of the most influential creators write for the young because they are the ones seeking guidance, exploring new ideas, having their worlds expanded through storytelling in all its forms.
The most profound revelations I've experienced were as a kid or teen reading/watching stuff for kids.
They were elders by the time I came along, and some became mentors. And the majority were in comics (and animation and live action F&&SF) to both give people something entertaining and to say important things in coded ways to get around censors.
Much of the comics industry evolved in New York, among friends and peers who were radicals for their time. A number of them ended up moving out to L.A. and became the backbones of Marvel etc. They had to go up agaist bias in publishing, especially the Jews, black ppl, women, gay etc. I knew them.
Superman was created by Jewish American brothers who wanted a hero to fight against Nazis during WWII. The superhero genre exists to empower people, to say in metaphor what cannot be said otherwise.
Two boys facing antisemitism invented an icon of courage that you just shallowly pissed all over.
We're only seeing a fraction of Trump's actual corruption. Why? The rest is "classified."

Detail of a foliate capital at the top of a Norman church pillar, lit by sunlight. In the background are wooden pews with poppy head bench ends, and fourteenth century arches.
Have a touch of Romanesque just to make your Monday! Beautifully cut capital on a pillar at St Andrewβs, Spratton, Northamptonshire. The church, incorporating builds from different periods, also features a particularly fine 14th Century effigy of a knight, which Iβll be blogging on shortly.
Palantir showing the world how desperately they need someone on staff who can write a statement that isn't the delusional screed of toddlers in adult bodies still trying to prove to Daddy that they are big boys now.
