UK says: We’re counting on you not noticing we aren’t counting.
US says: We’re gerrymandering the counts, casting doubt on the counters, and if necessary, making up the “right” numbers.

I love the “framing” that use of wood products in building is a form of carbon sequestration.
“We can build our way out of climate change by slashing forests to harvesting sequestered carbon!”

Though not much is known about the specifics of her battles, a shout out to all those fellow Type 1s who burden under the physical, emotional, financial and mental labors of this disease.
As father to daughter who has had the same #T1D battle since age 4, now in her 30s…it is a reminder that life is precious, medical care in the US places an unnecessary burden on people, and that the emotional components of disease can be equally devastating.
I don’t follow politics at the scrum-level.
I don’t know if Mark Warner is a D or an R…don’t need to. I didn’t understand the news at first…
But their family’s loss of daughter Madison to “decades of battle with juvenile #diabetes and other health complications” at 36, is cause for pause.
Out of bounds, ethically. Be better than this.
There was a lot going on at the time.
Disco, New Wave, great folk music, hard rock, rhythm and blues, new age, metal…and the birth of rap. Something for everyone…and some of us liked it all.
I consider Dr. Ott, one of the report’s authors, a friend…She has been working on oil spills since Valdez, and she never tires of fighting the good fight!
Bravo, Riki! And may we stop making risks to responders, the public, and the environment greater…by fighting toxins with more lethal toxins.🛢️🌊

The AI boom comes at a cost 😮💨
Behind the AI hype is a surge in energy use, data centre expansion and growing threats to democracy. Can it still be called progress if it deepens environmental harm, surveillance, and the grip of Big Tech and autocrats on power?

Eocene Western US was anything but serene. So much volcanism of the violent sort. Continental drift triggers continental fit?
Those who deny science should not simultaneously enjoy its benefits.
Want to be a Luddite…live a Luddite’s life.
Knightia fossil fish from the Green River Formation in Wyoming…dating to the Early Eocene (50 million years ago) when the Western US was truly rocking and roiling. Picture is of brown fossilized remains outlining the skeleton of a fresh water fish, on a tan background of volcanic sedimentary rock.
So long Eocene, and thanks for all the fish.

This has the feel of Melania’s recent preemptive denial of crimes she hadn’t (yet) been accused of.
Emotion has an important motivational component to it as well. This can be a positive, a negative, or both.
Yes waiter, I'll have a cup of tea, a scone, and if it's not too much trouble, perhaps some precedented times?
There’s a fine line between scrumptuous and scandalous.
I suspect it is far more common than suspected…with many misdiagnosed with Type 2…or some other variant.
More than 1/1000, but with an atypical late age onset. I guess I got lucky?
That sounds more like eye catching than interesting.
The only way these guys end wars is to facilitate the beginning of the last war.
