Use of the word "evil" in official congressional e-newsletters, over time, by party

There’s lots we can do. Liberally-inclined people are actually the majority. Liberalism with a “big tent” mentality appeals to way more people than fascism does. Liberalism with a ”Purity Test” mentality appeals to a much smaller minority. Expanding the tent is easier than rage-quitting the USA.

Are you being argumentative because it’s your usual way of interacting online or did you not read my entire thread?

Do you seriously think this technological hurdle is so great that it renders inoperable the 3,700 warheads in the United States? We tremble in fear already that some rogue state will smuggle a tiny bomb into New York harbor.

You want nukes in a failed state? Same problem. Nukes.

7 months ago 1 0 1 0

That’s it exactly.

Same problem though. The liberal half joins Canada and the redneck half does what? Becomes a developing nation that happens to have a superpower arsenal and just peacefully coexists with its northern neighbor? The MAGA America would become a true uncontainable fascist warmongering nightmare.

New Regionalism is great, but stop thinking the USA is “too far gone” to save. You have no idea the Hell you’re trying to conjure. The USA MUST be saved and redirected to a path of liberal democracy. That’s the only path forward. If you’re convinced otherwise you are on a suicide charge.

You can’t disarm the USA once you split from it, you just hand the guns, the flag and the documents over to exactly the people who will delight in using them against you. You think a New Confederacy with nuclear submarines is going to be a peaceful neighbor with the Pacifica they already despise?

Hate to buzzkill, but all this talk of regions succeeding from the US is dangerously ignorant of reality. Every time a liberal says, “America is broken and we’re going to leave it,” they cede ownership of the IP of the USA and its unfathomable arsenal to the LEAST qualified to manage it peacefully.

Even IF, somehow, the military bases in Pacifica ALL followed their progressive officers (lol) to become the Army and Navy of Western States, we’re in an instant Cold War with the antagonistic state that controls the Minuteman missiles in Montana and North Dakota and the sub base in Kings Bay GA.

People talk about the West Coast economy as if geopolitics is completely based on trade. Now imagine your dream Pacifica state of CA, OR and WA where every military base is the sovereign possession of a “The United States” that’s just the MAGALAND that happily claimed the flag and the Constitution.

Nuclear weapons are spread across the US. If you contemplate dissolving the national government you place those nukes, and the military that administers them, in contention. Whatever rump state claims to be “The United States” inherits the nukes and becomes a global superpower. It ain’t California.

When the coastal regions imagine themselves as peaceful, ecological, democratic successor states with new Constitutions they ignore that they’d be confronting one or more antagonistic states all too ready to declare themselves the inheritors of the IP of the United States, including the nukes.

If WA, OR and CA were to secede from the US it does not mean the admirals in Bangor-Kitsap are suddenly going to swear allegiance to the Governor of Pacifica. They would have no framework to do that and we would not want them to have that authority. That would be really bad.

Just to focus a little, nuclear weapons still pose the greatest existential threat to human existence. There are 3,700 warheads dispersed throughout the USA in the custody of a military that swears allegiance to the U.S. Constitution.

I feel vindicated in never having tried to sing along with Its The End Of The World As We Know It. I just smiled, bobbed my head and awkwardly clapped on the one and three.

Yeah, the idea that I had a “last ride” just occurred to me today.

7 months ago 3 1 1 0

Ages 17-21 I did a lot of hitchhiking. Across the USA, up and down both coasts and all around Europe. Then one day I never did it again. I was in Ft. Collins and hitched down to Durango and after that every ride I got was with people I knew. I can’t picture the last guy. Had no idea he was my last.

If someone had said that to me in college I would have died on the spot.

Hahaha it’s sad but true.

If your opinions of contemporary politics are indistinguishable from the disinformation campaigns being pushed by foreign agents and chaos bots maybe it’s time to log off.

This “summit” in Alaska was a giant gift to Putin, made him look important and put him back on the big stage. God, Trump is such a bozo.
