Riverborne by R Parker delivers something both surreal and beautiful. Naming the protagonist Ghost feels like a narrative promise — and the story truly fulfills it. The pacing is slow but deliberate, building toward something I actually want to see unfold!

Thank you so much Josiah! This has made my day 😊 I will use this as a blurb some day.
One night Nella and Ghost make a telling fire to glimpse the future. But something goes wrong and the spirit of the Maiden is awoken in the woods As villagers begin to die, they must seek the bone witch to stop the horror they unleashed, if Ghost can afford the price she demands in return.
If the tears of the innocent didn't work on you, here is the jacket copy, you jaded old gorgon:
Thirteen-year-old Ghost has always called Riverborne home, though the villagers still see him as an outsider. Abandoned at birth, Ghost grows up with the witch Maeve and her niece Nella.
Before I was a teacher, I was a writer. This is a YA fantasy novel I wrote back when spare time was still a thing. Please have a look at the first few chapters on #Libraro for their Reader Engagement Prize and give it a like.

Maybe he should audition for a goblin in the new Harry Potter adaption.
Congratulations! This looks adorable (in an eerie way, of course)

This actually makes sense in a deranged way.
In my high school English classroom, I encouraged kids to express their opinion freely. But they weren't allowed to debate anyone's human rights. (Thank goodness for South Africa's Constitution).
Loved Pushing Daisies! But also Hannibal
So, right now, the only reliable way to diagnose endometriosis is with exploratory surgery. But finally, real scientists (instead of male scientists), are on the job & of course they’ve identified multiple markers in menstrual blood that point to noninvasive testing.

Have you seen the Key and Peele skit parodying Harry Potter as an inner city school? It is iconic.
In South Africa, our English curriculum is crammed so full of assessments that we have no time to actively teach these very necessary basic skills. I don't understand how learning to learn is not compulsory content
As a debating adjudicator, I also see it when I give learners feedback and they just collectively sit and stare at you. Until I tell them to take notes or they'll never improve.

I remember seeing Cleopatra's body on display and being furious. Why is her final resting place in a museum in England?

I think the use of chatbots for stuff like this is intended to train people to use it to avoid everything that’s painful or hard. It can write the obituary, the breakup text, the complaint letter. It’s meant to separate humans from their difficult feelings. Seems bad.
She has spread Israeli propaganda and compared the LA fires to Gaza. I think a more extensive Google search is in order.
I don't think the working class is competing for resources with dogs and cats. Unless they are AI engineered.
