Screenshotted excerpt from linked article reading as follows:

"In public, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. has cultivated a reputation for care and caution. The papers reveal a different side of him. At a critical moment for the country and the court, the papers show, he acted as a bulldozer in pushing to stop Mr. Obama’s plan to address the global climate crisis.

When colleagues warned the chief justice that he was proposing an unprecedented move, he was dismissive. “I recognize that the posture of this stay request is not typical,” he wrote. But he argued that the Obama plan, which aimed to regulate coal-fired plants, was “the most expensive regulation ever imposed on the power sector,” and too big, costly and consequential for the court not to act immediately."

So tedious to hear NYC old-timers lecture that “NYers don’t refer to subway lines by color,” because (1) false, plenty do, even natives, especially in Manhattan where so much service is interlined, and (2) why shouldn’t they, it’s the simplest way to convey useful information

DOT out there pouring a *concrete* sidewalk extension at 3rd/26th and I don’t even know why (this isn’t a big r reckless-right-turn conflict spot and there’s no bus stop here) but the more of this the better

This is such a win for not just the practical usefulness but also the comprehensibility and emotional dependability of MARTA’s bus system. If I’d known I could count on the 107 (now 21/22) every 15 min or better when I lived in Atlanta I would have been a regular rider.

Worth adding that I live with a heavy nicotine and cannabis user who is also on Zepbound and has seen only a minor reduction in cravings for anything other than food (for which it works as advertised). Everyone is different!

And I personally would not take anything other than pure prescribed medication under the direction of a competent physician who knows my physiology. (I don’t judge others!)

It’s not the same for everyone, and I guess it depends on the root cause of your condition. To look at it backwards: it appears that some portion (not all) of my psychiatric symptoms are metabolically triggered, not simply brain chemistry. Good thing to know!

(Last month my psychiatrist told me that he is starting to hear patients report similar mood improvement. But there’s been very little chatter about it that I can find.)

Honestly even if the weight loss wasn’t happening as advertised (and it is, at ~1.5 lb/week), I’d still pay for this as a psychiatric medication. And I had no idea to expect this.

I used to wake up foggy and vaguely nauseous every day. That simply ended. I forget to have coffee until midday or later because I don’t need it. In 40 years of adulthood the only other therapy that had such an immediate and profound impact was getting a CPAP.

I’m having all the anticipated benefits too, but I’m ratcheting back my psych meds and simplifying my regimen (with my doc) because I find I get by with less. I assume it’s because smaller, simpler, more deliberate meals stabilize my metabolism. But who knows?

Opinion | GLP-1 Experimentation Is Everywhere, and Science Can’t Keep Up Millions of Americans are experimenting with the drugs. Science can’t keep up.

Nobody told me that when I went on Zepbound for weight loss, my main side effect would be decreased anxiety and increased mood stability, starting in the first week and indisputably tied either to the drug or to the metabolic changes it led to.

Unmasking the Paramilitary Agents Behind Trump’s Violent Immigration Crackdown A WIRED analysis of DHS records identified dozens of specialized federal agents who used force against US civilians during the largest known deployment of its kind in US history.

NEW: @wired.com has ID’d a number of the masked paramilitary agents in the exceedingly violent unit surrounding Greg Bovino that formed the leading edge of the invading force the federal government sent to Chicago last fall; @awinston.bsky.social and @regret.bsky.social have the story.
