Councilman Ash-Shafii acknowledged that the ticketing system is skewed.
Publish before punish has been brought up again. Residents complain of receiving tickets for ordinances they are unaware of. This continues to be a concern.

Resolution for gift of trees to MLK Park from Say Detroit and Cooper Standard was approved.
Motion carried for approval of Fire Department supplies.
Resolution to approve the purchase of MSA brand air packs, 24 air bottles, 30 masks and one rapid intervention rescue bag for $158,194.64. Fire Chief brought examples of the supplies needed and how long they were extremely dated.
Resolution to approve purchase of a commercial gear dryer for Fire Department for $7208 is being discussed. The council approved the budget.
Submission of Proposal Fiscal Year 2026 Budget was thrown out.
The motion for Parade Permit for Highland Park Michigan Week Parade was tabled by council.
The motion for $3 million bond for capital repairs are passed by council 3:1.
Projected cost to repair the entire city water sewer lines is $60 million.
Utility Financial Solutions presented a workshop explaining the details of their report earlier at 5:30 pm
From the assessment District 1 has the most compromised structural integrity and that’s how they will be able to secure funding from the state.
Councilman Ash-Shafii said he feels district 3 is being neglected in this plan for bond funding. He questions the integrity of the assessment for this improvement plan.
Resolution is being discussed for capital improvement bonds in the amount of $3 million. This is to work on water and sewage lines in Highland Park.
