Also probably gotten more spam text messages about it than most previous elections too.

Got an email yesterday from someone I had done a couple lil book covers for to tell me he can't afford to hire me for the last one and he used--you guessed it--gen AI to get it done. He's also out of work, has been for a while, and I get it. I get it!

But boy, it all just feels totally pointless.

With Hat Atelier is, no exaggeration, one of the most mesmerizing comics out there. Kamome Shirahama isn't "good at drawing" - she has great technical skill, yes, but she controls the flow like no one else, comes up with imagery that projects a world, and roots all of it in the themes of her series

I didn't do comics today but I did do my taxes!!!

No SPX for me this year. At least I can shop worry-free this year (well, except for money worries ofc).

Haha! Yeah I know the saying too, tho these are more "all day feelings" and just "late night posting when most people are probably asleep in my time zone" lol

Thank you! I'm just having late-night feelings and throwing them into the void can kinda help lol. I love TMK, and while making art might not be fun for me in itself (even that's complicated), creating stories definitely is, and TMK's is a good one I will finish.

And disappointing ME doesn't count lol. I did well in school cuz I didn't want to disappoint my parents/teachers. I did well at work cuz I didn't want to disappoint my coworkers. I work on TMK because people read it (I love it but i dunno if that's enough). It sucks!! I dunno how to get over it.

Sadly I've also realized that...I don't do art for fun. It's hard to admit, but it's so difficult for me to make anything if there's no one to disappoint by not doing it. I wouldn't make TMK if no one read it. People might enjoy if I made new art, but no one would be disappointed if I didn't.

The other day when I went looking for that old St. Patrick's Day TMK thing, I skimmed through my Media tab and realized I had replied to several people looking for illustrators with the same illustrations I've had on hand for like ten years. It was kind of galling. I need to make new ones.

Saoirse turns and eagerly spots Coal maybe kinda trying to sneak away.

Coal acquiesces and says, "Fine...only if you close your eyes." Saoirse replies, "Okay!" and leans forward with her eyes closed and lips pursed.

Coal kisses Saoirse on her nose.

Saoirse is a little surprised and says, "Oh! That's nice too." Coal turns away in embarrassment saying "I'm gonna walk into the ocean."

A little late, but some St. Patrick's Day shenanigans. Sorry Coal.
