Dumplings in Europe date from the Middle Ages and they very well could have come from China by way of intermediaries. I don't know the history of the other dishes on the map. But there was a lot of intercultural contact in the Middle Ages and the Mongol Empire was in general a key part of that.

My high school civics teacher struggled to explain this for an entire semester and this guy nails it under an hour @premodernist.bsky.social
No worries, I didn't take it as accusatory. But I don't blame you for clarifying given how strangely thin-skinned people on the Internet can be.
Yes, that's right. I only ever heard "nitch." The pronunciation "neesh" was considered British. It doesn't surprise me that Canadians also said it that way; Canadian English can be a bit of a mix between the two. I remember being surprised at the way Robert MacNeil pronounced "Renaissance."
I miss the days when Americans pronounced the word "niche" the normal way.

George Lucas and Steven Spielberg were in their 30s when they made Raiders of the Lost Ark. If it were made today, it would be created by two millennials and take place in 1980.
Nice! Videotape on a tube TV looks amazing.
