Great episode. Blended reality with loyalty to the cause. Like your ‘vulture culture’ phrase Amy.

Arsenal Twitter from Jan ‘98.

Too many French players without any discipline. Vieira is all over the place. Adams is finished, Anelka is no Wrighty and Overmars is no Merse. We’d need a 10 match winning run now & United & Fergie know the way home. Wenger’ll be gone next season. #COYG

Arsenal Twitter from May 17th 1989.

‘If we can’t beat Neanderthal Wimbledon we don’t deserve it. George must go. One poxy League Cup in 3 seasons. The football is terrible and our form at Highbury is too. Why didn’t we sign Barnes or Gazza? This club lives in the past. No chance at Anfield. #COYG

Arsenal twitter from April '70.

Get that jumped up physio gone. No trophies for 17 years. Embarrassed 3-1 by Anderlecht. Just like Swindon. Not even bothering going to Highbury for 2nd leg. No bottle & reliant on 2 kids- George &Kennedy. 70/71 will be a disaster. Mee out. #COYG

Arsenal Twitter from early 1930....

'Chapman's had over 4 years, spent loads of money & won nothing. Lost to Cardiff in '27 FA Cup Final & we froze. James & Jack cost a fortune. We're reliant on a kid - Bastin & this poxy WM formation is crap. Players over coached -Herb out. #COYG

Given all the white noise over the last fortnight - both from critics and some Arsenal fans who should know better - that was a superb result, against a team with a fantastic home record. Hopefully that’s a great springboard for a great few weeks for ALL of us.

Those 2 winning goals by Ramsey in the 2014 / 2017 FA Cup Finals at Wembley sparked perhaps the most intense celebrations I’ve seen at Arsenal matches. Build that man a statue! Nice one Aaron - and thanks for all the great memories. x.com/JonSpurling1...

I’ve not stood at a League Cup Final since 1987, when we beat Liverpool 2-1. Today I’m in the Wembley Standing Area. I’ll take that as the best of omens. Wearing this old classic too. Let’s get this done Arsenal.

19/2025. A very easy read thanks to the narration of @jonspurling.bsky.social Each chapter looks at a club or tournament giving a snapshot in time. There are some great stories, many of which I'd never heard before. Highly recommended for any football fan around in the 80s regardless of allegiance.
