I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals

I am politely requesting my friends at the NS to let me have a go with the giant train costume one day. I promise I can be trusted with the giant train costume.

mmm, I think it's another bleed across from spending too much time (/social media) hearing from American commentators, and losing touch with British (political) culture. they use "liberal" as an insult in a way that normal Brits never do.

he needs to end the transphobia and culture war nonsense; put up taxes on middle earners; invest in defence and infrastructure. Is he tough enough??

When they received the call to respond to an Israeli airstrike in the city of Mayfadoun, in southern Lebanon, most of the paramedics held back, having previously seen colleagues killed by double-tap attacks targeting rescuers. But the medics from the Islamic Health Association (IHA) rushed to the scene.

By the time the other emergency workers arrived at the site, they found the IHA medics had indeed been caught in a second strike. They started evacuating their wounded colleagues, only for their ambulances to be hit in two further attacks.

One of the paramedics covered his ears and screamed, convulsing in pain as shrapnel shattered the back window of the ambulance.

The rescue mission on Wednesday afternoon had turned into a nightmare as Israel carried out three consecutive strikes on three sets of ambulances and medical workers.

Israel performed a literal quadruple tap attack in Lebanon to massacre three separate sets of medics.

Truly pushing the bounds of human depravity.

and that's one of the great things about rugby union, that it creatively includes and tests a range of bodies and skills together

basically agree! but also:

I think it's much more important that people who want to play a fun game together are allowed to do that. supported and encouraged to do that. not everything is a big competition or about measuring human endeavour with lab controlled variables. mere winning is trivial.

perhaps they might clarify whether he would be welcome to apply for future positions, and ensure the integrity of his pension etc etc

He wrote to the Select Committee that he had received a letter which dismissed him, so, yes.

It might have been better if they had asked him whether he might consider agreeing to leave his post. But. They didn't.

Apparently today I am dizzy and disoriented and slow and cold. So. That's somewhat unhappy.

Holy shit Noah Hawley is good (and this very clearly demonstrates that he understands the Alien assignment).

clearance was granted to Mandelson after a vetting process, which was not failed.

if the PM had wanted to know the results of the vetting before announcing Mandelson would be in post then he should have waited to make the announcement until after the vetting was complete. It was Starmer's risk.

but like, we had specific classes on the Warsaw ghetto, as an example. whereas learning about anti-Semitism in sixteenth century Italy will get taught but to older people reading The Merchant of Venice in English class, not very likely to be on a history syllabus.

my experience, as a non-Jew from England, is that in Europe we almost always use the word ghetto to refer to places Jews were forced to live separately, but mostly when discussing some aspects of fascism in the 20th century. I suppose those are conversations that take place relatively more often.

to be fair, in her 30s she also made a coffee table book of naked photos which is quite well thought of. when she was young she used her body to make / perform art that she is proud of. she's always mixed using symbols, dress choices, and sexual imagery with her music and performance.
