This is why discourse in the country is where it’s at. No one is willing to listen to another. We don’t feel like our politicians hear us, and now you’re making sure you don’t hear another. I’m not speaking against trans people. I’m simply defending an unfair mischaracterization.

He’s just not that. I get he’s not as progressive as you might like. But he’s not the enemy. And he’s NOT LGB without the T. Characterizing him as such is improper.

Telling people “NO” never works. They have to feel heard and considered. And a national stance is a large “NO”. Now eventually the country will be ready for that. But it’s not right now and people are reacting to being told “NO” poorly. We need more time to educate. So for now take the pressure off.

I see where you may think that, but I also don’t agree with you that he scapegoated. I think this is the best most nuanced response I’ve seen from a Democrat. I want to hear him speak more on it.

If you want trans people to stop being used as pawns then I’d imagine you’d support Pete’s position of removing it from the national spot light.

Because right now that’s ALL they are being used for. And a national position is causing greater harm than anticipated. Regional is the best path forward

I get that a national moral stance is preferable to small regional variants- but that’s not the world we live in yet. And unfortunately catapulting this issue into the mainstream has caused a larger than anticipated adverse response.

Pulling it out of that limelight helps individuals the most.
