Mine just showed up, but then again I live in Wyoming and there’s a winter storm watch through tomorrow morning.

When the USA and Vietnam negotiated in Paris , it took TEN weeks to agree on the shape of the table they were going to use. This was not a serious effort.
“Torn Between Two Lovers” puts them all to shame.
The IRS recommends that tax cheats keep all their tax records. Is Krissy not telling you everything?
Pretty sure it stops in Cincinnati, or so I’m told by people from Ohio.
Microsoft Word keeps suggesting ‘more concise language’ to my writing, but ‘like’ is not a good substitute for ‘similar to”. Writing shouldn’t be a fight with a computer to prevent the implementation of Newspeak.

Cary Grant once said that he wished he was the man he portrayed on film.

"Of the 9 translocated coyotes, all...vacated the site of release, 6 died within 14 weeks of collaring, and 3 animals were lost...survival over the monitoring period was 0.00, relative to 0.88 for unmoved coyotes "
Translocation is not the answer.
Every time someone publishes AI-generated writing it becomes fodder to train other AI models. At some point AIs will use enough AI slop to affect their output. What then? Based on what they generate with human-created material, I think we’re seeing the apex of AI output. It’s all downhill from here.
Some of my co-workers are enamored with AI for short pieces of work (invitations, job postings, etc.). I spend more time editing them so they make sense than it would take to write them in the first place. If you don't enjoy writing AI makes sense. If you care about your reader it's awful.
The drive from Capitol Reef NP to Hanksville is about as stark as it gets in Utah.
Oh, for books like ”War of the Worlds” and ”Brave New World” that had no political subtexts.
There’s a strain of arrogant ignorance that permeates their decisions. Knowledge and nuance are signs of weakness, and they refuse to listen to opposing ideas. The country is being run by the worst fraternity on campus.
If they’re all photographs, I have to choose Io for top left. Lots of sulfur to make it yellow.

A color banded raven is perched on a log with a hopeful look in her eye. Behind is a nearly snow-free landscape of aspen, pines, and downed timber.
Yellowstone’s most habituated raven begging for snacks at petrified tree in the park. Unlike some of her congeners, she and her mate find that hanging out where there are humans is more productive than checking out wolf habitat. They obviously haven’t read Loretto et al.’s paper in Science. #birds

A male Barrow's Goldeneye, a black-and-white diving duck, sitting on water after a quick dive. Water is dripping from bill and beaded across back.
Once the ice melts in western Wyoming, the Barrow's Goldeneyes are among the first ducks to arrive. #birds, #barrowsgoldeneye, #wyoming
That’s actually a postcaper. Capers are the young flower buds.
I just heard on Pivot that the median age of a Fox News viewer is 69, with a median household income of $60,000. If we assume that Fox viewers vote Republican, they’re older and poorer than the population average, consume more misinformation and thus have a higher death rate.
As Gorbachev learned.
The suspension float at Pasadena’s Dooh-Dah parade some years back left an indelible impression on me. I have photos somewhere.

A Black Woodpecker (Dryocopus martius), most likely a female based on limited red on top of head, perched on trunk of a European beech (Fagus sylvatica) in southern Sweden.
Black Woodpeckers can be tough to locate and get a good look at, but this one and its mate are making all kinds of noise and posing nicely. #birds, #blackwoodpecker, #Falsterbo
