I’m realizing the only reason I feel numb watching the news is because I was a church kid in the 90s. Wednesday night for us was watching the Left Behind series, being told to resist the Mark of the Beast to escape The Lake of Fire, then immediately going to the fellowship hall for a pizza party.

“Y’allternative” seems redundant because folks should know by now how goth & punk Appalachians are. What’s more goth than wailing hymns like “Oh, Death” and having your Papaw buried in your backyard? What’s more punk than foraging in the hill and forming unions with your buddies against Big Coal?
