That Orban conceded defeat was also something to celebrate.

Yes but we know many of us will skeet the same sentiment when he passes.

That’s why it’s important to be involved in multiple projects, preferably not all in need of JWST data. Also the new generation of survey telescopes release their data to all.

Even experienced senior researchers get proposals ranked in the 5th quintile. Learning has little to do with it. The annual and often unpredictable variation in TAC science priorities along with an immensely over subscribed telescope are more likely the drivers here.

We didn’t have much say in the matter.

Karl Stapelfeldt (JPL/Caltech) and I summarize the historical context that has led us to the Habitable Worlds Observatory. We always build upon the work of many. HWO is no exception. We hope you find this short paper enlightening.

This has been the trend for a long time. Physics really lags.

OK. Not sure why this is newsworthy.

Not to mention uprooting one's family is not an easy task and many may just shift careers.

Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Minneapolis (Official Audio)
Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Minneapolis (Official Audio) YouTube video by Bruce Springsteen

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Sounds like a model that does not have realistic max limits. We have never had 50" of snow in this area in one storm.

Don't know which weather app to believe yet. Accuweather is predicting at 4 inches of snow on Sunday. But the Apple weather app is predicting 15-18 inches!! Not sure I believe that but if true, snowpocalypse 2026 here we come.

Reminds me of the 9/11 video of jet crashing into the Twin Towers taken by a bystander. The bystander’s voice is heard to say “Oh Sh*t!” But when they showed it on the news the blanked out the audio. Clearly ok to show the instant of mass death but not to broadcast a “curse”.

We had to make a dessert with whip cream and the blender broke. No problem I said. I’ll just grab the power drill, bend a hanger wire into the right shape, and we’ll be in business. Four days later we were still cleaning up residual cream splatter.
