The Ambassador also emphasised that transparency, regulatory stability, fair competition, and effective dispute resolution are essential for EU investors. By ensuring this, Kazakhstan will attract investors from Europe, and strengthen Kazakhstan’s international competitiveness.

Critical Raw Materials are a key priority of the EU’s Global Gateway. The EU works with partners to improve geodata access, promote ESG standards, and advance joint projects from opportunity to implementation.

With its vast resource base, established metallurgical infrastructure, strong expertise in handling complex materials, and considerable human capital, Kazakhstan is well positioned as a key partner.

In her remarks, she highlighted Kazakhstan’s significant potential in the mining sector, noting both the European Union’s strategic interest and the growing engagement of European companies.

She also emphasised the value of introducing more EU-focused educational programmes in Kazakh universities.

Ambassador Simkič highlighted the importance of strengthening academic mobility, expressing her goal to increase the number of Kazakh students studying in Europe and European students studying in Kazakhstan, including through the Erasmus+ programme.

The parties noted Kazakhstan’s progress, including the centralisation of participation through the National Coordination Centre since 2023, which has contributed to increased engagement of Kazakh institutions and a growing number of applications.

Minister presented impressive record of cooperation among Kazakh and foreign Universities and academic institutions. Particular attention was given to Horizon Europe, the EU’s flagship research and innovation programme.

The project delivered key outputs, including country assessments, digital ecosystem mapping, regional events, and study visits on cybersecurity and the aerospace sector, in coordination with Central Asian stakeholders.

As part of the Soft Pillar of the Team Europe Initiative on Digital Connectivity, the meeting reviewed first-year results and outlined priorities for the next phase, focusing on digital connectivity, digital economy development, and reducing connectivity gaps in #CentralAsia.
