April 16 is Emancipation Day in DC: a moment in our city’s history when more than 3,000 enslaved people were freed in 1862, months before emancipation reached the South.
It’s a powerful reminder that this history is local and worth reflecting on.

The renovations are completely transforming this space: more room, more light, and so much more for the community. What used to feel tight is now expanded with a large dedicated kids’ area, adult reading space, and community rooms that will bring people together.

That’s what Glenn got through DC’s Healthy Homes program.
His gas stove used to create dangerous indoor air pollution — now it’s gone. And his energy costs are down, too.
This is what affordability looks like.
More families deserve this — not fewer.
Who else hates litter? 🙋♀️🙋 (CM Allen really does. 😅🦆)
