We’re here at Deptford Lounge this morning 18 April and then next on Saturday 2 May.
Last week we had residents raising issues about new Renters Rights, parking, business issues, repairs and more.
Come and see us with your own issues, local concerns or just a chat.
That’s what we’re here for!

Image of the cover of Borderlines, with a photograph of an abandoned customs post in the mist, on a gold background. The text to the right reads Waterstones Paperbacks of the Year.
Delighted to announce that Borderlines is one of @waterstones.bsky.social paperbacks of the year!
37 years since Sultans of Swing got to Number 1.
Every time I see this plaque on Crossfields Estate in #Deptford it gives me goosebumps #DireStraits
We’re here today, holding our surgery at Deptford Lounge, which was closed for Easter last weekend.

Proud to be standing for re-election as a Labour and Co-operative candidate in #Deptford #Lewisham @lewishamlabour.bsky.social
New late-night youth clubs will mean more young people will be able to experience the great opportunities places like the TNG provide in Lewisham.
Only possible due to @sadiqkhanlondon.bsky.social and his £30m investment.
Busy day across Crofton Park, Perry Vale and Sydenham.
Lots of casework and good conversations.
Today the Labour Government is lifting over 8,000 children in Lewisham out of poverty by removing the two-child benefit cap.
This is the difference a Labour Government working with a Labour Council and a Labour Mayor can make.
Another step towards building a fairer, more equitable society.
My favourite Apollo programme fact. Pete Conrad - Apollo 12, the third person to ever walk on the moon - said as coming down the ladder: “Whoopee! Man, that may have been a small one for Neil, but that's a long one for me”.
Even better, he said this to win a $500 bet that NASA didn’t script stuff.
From today, over 16,000 children across Lewisham and Southwark will be lifted out of poverty.
Labour has lifted the two child limit, and with our child poverty strategy, we will go further and lift even more children out of poverty.
And many of them in #Deptford @lewishamlabour.bsky.social @brendadacres.bsky.social
Who owns your home matters.
Housing co-ops put ownership and control in the hands of residents – not landlords.
The law should support that. Add your name if you agree. party.coop/campaign/com...
Really pleased to see work on the walkway in Fordham Park Children’s playground by Childeric St is underway.
As your councillors we awarded £30,000 of Community Infrastructure Funds to make this safe for local kids
Such a fantastic evening joining Amanda De Ryk, our Lewisham Labour Mayoral candidate, at the Eid party, full of warmth, joy and community spirit. ✨
And a highlight… Amanda getting a beautiful henna tattoo. A perfect touch to a brilliant celebration. 🌙
Even on these chilly nights we’re out listening to #Deptford residents @lewishamlabour.bsky.social
Great News!

Brilliant to hear Lewisham Council have been awarded £50,000 by The Veolia Environmental Trust to transform Friendly Gardens park in Deptford.
From wildflower meadows to accessible paths and a wildlife pond, this will be a huge improvement for local access to nature.

Could Lewisham be the first Borough of Literature? I believe so & London Writers Centre is pushing to make it official.
Get behind their campaign & attend an event happening in the constituency this week as part of Deptford Literature Festival.

Great to launch the @lewishamlabour.bsky.social manifesto for Amanda De Ryk yesterday, a bold vision for Lewisham that builds on our Labour council’s strong record.
Fantastic to see 100+ members there, made all the more special by being joined by David Lammy.
Massively appreciated in Deptford
It’s been a strong week for Lewisham Labour with the launch of our bold and ambitious manifesto.
Great to spend time in Evelyn on the doorstep, listening to residents & sharing our vision for the borough.

Really enjoyed this fascinating book on the formation of Indo-European.
Very well told story of how linguistics, genetics and archaeology are reshaping what we know about the migration that led to one language group covering half the world. @laurainparis.bsky.social
Lovely lunchtime visit to #artsnetwork

Today, I have announced £5 million of funding for the CPS to support victims of domestic abuse in the Crown Court.
Victims will be offered a pre trial meeting with the prosecution. This will provide them with better support and ensure their voice is heard.
A massive campaign win for our members and the credit union movement.
Millions more people will have access to fairer borrowing and saving because of today's reforms.
Growing credit unions, growing our movement, growing our economy.
We’re in Deptford Lounge this morning.
