I think that some fairly major points with Catholicism has eluded this guy.

Temporary because Elisabeth I was quite clear about keeping control in her hand if she married, and most alliances where heads of state married did not hold.

The alternate history here would be awesome to explore. A temporary protestant alliance. Richelieu would have hated the world he was born in, with supported Hugenots. The Danes would hate the entire concept, the English fleet would be exactly the thing to break their grip on the Baltic trade.

Någonstans skall man ju våga.

Earth and Moon from DSCOVR NASA's Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) aboard the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite captured this unique view of the Moon as it moved in front of the sunlit side of Earth last month. This view shows the fully illuminated “dark side” of the moon that is never visible from Earth. Ian Regan processed this version of the image to account for the Moon's motion. I hadn't seen this before. This is pretty remarkable.

And the only thing worse than that would be to continue the naming tradition with female names for technology existing to serve you.

Well, philosopher Daniel Dennett coined the word "deepity": statements that seem profound but are actually trivial or meaningless upon closer examination. I think that a surprising amount of human statements are partly meaningless.

I find it difficult to be on Linkedin March 8 because the overlap between organisations and people who talk about equality and that I know are perpetuating deeply harmful actions in their day to day actions is simply too big

A three-panel comic strip from the Swedish series Arne Anka by Charlie Christensen, featuring a satirical take on International Women's Day.
The comic is drawn in a detailed, gritty underground style. On the left, Arne Anka (an anthropomorphic duck resembling Donald Duck) enters a room with a wide, toothy grin, hiding a bouquet of tulips behind his back. He says: "Happy International Women's Day, Grandma?"
In the center and right panels, his Grandma—an elderly duck with purple hair, sunglasses, and a cigarette in her mouth—is seated in a wheelchair, reading a book titled "Kvinnliga Frimurare" (Female Freemasons). She responds with cynical aggression:
> "What the hell should I be congratulated for? I've been young, I've been qualified and independent, but where the fuck is the money?"
>
She continues in the final panel:
> "But thanks anyway! At least you have the sense not to come dragging flowers or similar consolation prizes..."

Fitzsimmons Cartoon
Characters: A chimpanzee dressed in a blue Uncle Sam coat and a red-and-white striped top hat. It is sitting in a "Thinker" pose, holding a human skull and looking into its empty eye sockets.
Object (Stack of Books): The chimpanzee is perched on a stack of three large books.
The bottom book is labeled "Lessons Learned from Viet Nam" and is covered in thick cobwebs.
The middle book is labeled "Lessons Learned from Iraq" and also shows signs of dust and cobwebs.
The top book is clean and labeled "Lessons Learned from Afghanistan."
Dialogue: A speech bubble coming from the human skull asks, "New book?"

The best thing with not learning from history is that you can reiterate cartoons.

A black-and-white political cartoon by KAL for The Economist depicting a military scene in a mountainous region.
 * Setting: A rugged, rocky mountain pass representing Afghanistan.
 * Characters: Three U.S. soldiers in combat gear and helmets. One stands in the foreground holding a rifle, one is seen further back, and a third is stationed in the turret of a Humvee.
 * Vehicles: A prominent Humvee occupies the center-right, followed by another military vehicle in the background.
 * Dialogue (Left): A speech bubble from the soldier on the ground asks, "Why did President Obama take so long to announce his plan for Afghanistan?".
 * Dialogue (Right): Text near the soldier in the turret responds, "Maybe because his exit strategy had to be translated from the original Russian".

The EU project Virt-EU had a workshop exercise based on exactly this: a company that shipped a teddy bear with AI in it, where the AI had not been designed for children.
