Infectious disease minimizers own this. Public health officials who consistently downplayed COVID own this. Media who plarformed minimizers own this.

mRNA technology may be THE most underrated and unfairly scrutinized (fuck you COVID antivax crew) medical breakthrough in my lifetime.

Like... The things this is already showing it can do in the last 5-7 years is incredible.

Federal judge unloads on ‘unserious’ RFK Jr., says anti-trans policy showed his ‘cruelty’ Judge Mustafa T. Kasubhai vacated the “Kennedy Declaration,” finding it unlawfully attempted to override medical standards and restrict care for transgender youth.

Breaking: HHS’s ban on gender-affirming care is struck down. Rarely have I read a ruling this sharply worded.

“This case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader’s wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.”

The frustration that I have

I still don’t think the government has *ever* clearly communicated the long term risk to health that COVID-19 poses

and so most people still have no idea of the real pros and cons of getting infected or spreading disease.

Or ya know, clean the air and mask indoors, especially when flying. You’d think after seeing Olympian’s continue to mask everywhere in order to remain healthy, the pros might take notes.

COVID-19 mRNA Vaccination and 4-Year All-Cause Mortality Among Adults in France This cohort study uses the data from all adults aged 18 to 59 years living in France on November 1, 2021, to evaluate whether there is an association of receipt of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine with long-t...

RFK Jr.'s claim that COVID vaccines are deadly? Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. In this new extraordinarily large study, vaccinated individuals had a 74% lower risk of death from severe COVID-19 and a 25% lower risk of all-cause mortality compared to those unvaccinated. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

Opinion: A decade ago, writer Steven Galloway’s cancellation tore CanLit apart. The effects linger to this day The bestselling novelist faced sexual-assault allegations, costing him his job. Marsha Lederman asks, would this case be handled differently today?

I dunno, man. Seems pretty wild to write an extensive piece like this and only give a cursory mention of why so many people "declined to be interviewed."

The man has sued so many people for even just TWEETING about the case. But I still gotta listen to CanLit elites play the victim? C'mon.

Tom Hanks explains to Stephen Colbert why he masks on the subway:

"I'm doing a play right now so I cannot get sick... I've had COVID enough in my life, I don't need to do that again. So I'm wearing this for health reasons."

Thank you Tom! Masks are still a key part of public health.

Despite the marketing, it’s not a mere cold. We need to think beyond the initial acute-stage effects. Please take this seriously.

“It’s not just long COVID.
It’s a virus that rewrites the factory that makes immune cells - the bone marrow.”

Metformin has been shown to reduce the risk of Long COVID. Why isn’t it more widely used? - The Sick Times Recent studies add evidence to a prior phase 3 clinical trial, suggesting that taking the diabetes drug during acute COVID-19 reduces the risk of long-term symptoms.

NEW: A series of studies have shown that the diabetes drug metformin may help reduce the risk of #LongCOVID. So why isn't the information being translated into guidelines for providers?

Thanksgiving in Canada has nothing to do with Columbus!

We are a colonial country with a million things to atone for but Thanksgiving is not one of them.

Our Thanksgiving is timed with the harvest and it's literally just "Be grateful for harvest"

US Imperialism has brain rotted too many of you.

I know two people who got long covid from infections during doctor appointments where they couldn't easily mask (an MRI and an ENT exam). this is a very real risk.

And before anyone says anything - yes, there are MRI-safe respirators, most people don't know about them or have access to them.

Australian researchers unlocking secrets of COVID-19 may have landed on new ways to reduce organ injury from heart attacks and stroke

The SARS-CoV-2 virus has caused enormous global healthcare challenges and further led to longer-term health complications for millions of infected individuals. Much remains to be learned about the virus, but one thing is clear: the SARS-CoV-2 virus can unleash widespread, systemic effects throughout the body due to its ability to cause damage to endothelial cells (termed endotheliitis). This process is associated with microvasculature dysfunction and is a major cause of the acute and chronic complications (Long-COVID-19) of the disease.

SARS-CoV-2 can damage endothelial cells, disrupting blood flow and oxygen delivery. This microvascular injury drives organ damage and Long COVID.

+ The way "hostages" is applied to Israelis hostages but not to Palestinians when the same articles admit "vast majority of Palestinian prisoners were held without charge" which reads to me like they were hostages, too.
